  1. I propose the new members trophy be measured as the percentage increase in the number of memberships over last year. In the case of new clubs that were not around last year, it would be the percentage increase in memberships relative to the first member (First member because if you can't start at zero) This would eliminate per capita / population bias associated with geographically large regions / clubs and areas of higher population density.
  2. why not daltons? its so much nicer. more natural colour.
  3. dunno haha. I would get a 5000 just cause its fat as a ... well its an awesome diffuser, but if its too much CO2 for a 180 then smaller would be better.
  4. I love how we can take a thread and throw it off track. Josh - $5.50 was real terms as he used a historical reference. you can convert that to nominal terms now in 2010.
  5. If you can't subtract 6 years from 2010 you can't work out real or nominal terms
  6. Best to buy the rhinox ones from ebay. I buy them and send them directly to someone on here for what it costs. Just remember a rhinox will only work on a proper CO2 system and usually needs 5bbs not 1bps - for the 5000.
  7. a dish scrubber? hahaha. never. I love cutting into a carcass. Its the best ever. Most satisfying feeling when you chop up a massive cow and get all those cuts of meat  I can get twice that and i still complain
  8. I don't get paid minimum wage. The last job that paid me minimum wage was 6 years ago, when I was in 6th form and worked in a butchery. $6.80 per hour felt great.
  9. yes. 10 cm is minimum for that purpose, but with his water-change system and stable parameters I don't think its needed really. plus 10cm high across an 8ft tank is a LOT of sand *bags not cleaning it haha
  10. I think 10cm is a tad over kill. 2 inches is pretty normal, and is what I would recommend. I don't do silica sand cause it compacts, and i don't really do gravel vacs. I prefer proper sized substrate - something you can dig a gravel vac into when you do need to vacuum the gravel.
  11. its cheap as chips. I have 8gb in one of my phones and i think the other comes with a SSD type disk.
  12. On a 1400L tank + sump henward, don't bother with CO2. Really not going to be worth it. especially with your water-changer.
  13. Didn't win 2 months ago. it was a shameful loss even
  14. Did you explore the possibility that they got new fish in (as most if not all stores do every week) and that one of the new arrivals may be the reason for the sickness? Either ways, I'd suggest talking to the manager of that store; and perhaps something in writing if you feel very strongly about it. Might be more 'fruitful'.
  15. yeap. it sure is. good one too, but you need to be careful with it.
  16. +1 and for that price you could get a juwel.
  17. someone deemed rigidifolia rare and that can be ordered off the list. :-?
  18. yeah, do i know you?
  19. He was probably a tad excited and stress with the watcher, or was it watchers?
  20. Fish prices have gone up as bureaucratic costs have gone up and not to mention quarantine costs and costs of fuel and freight. What costed $5 then costs more now. Wholesale costs have increased. They aren't supposed to stay flat are they? That is the reasoning behind my "logic" or rather more fact than logic.
  21. Never read it Borrowed it from the library at school when I was a kid. but never read it.
  22. Joe, I do wish you would have chosen your words a little more carefully  ; especially as the owner of those auctions is a member here. 500gm of PMDD would go a very very long way.
