8) COOL thank you. the floor is not a problem, it's concret, but the uprights are 4x2, was going to be 20 of them but now i might double stud the 4 corners and the center. 600 certers across the length and 400 centers across the ends and the center. more than holds the roof above your head. all help accepted with many thanks and hope ican return the favor someday

the out side measurements of the tank are 2440 x 825 x 650. stone takes up around 100lts pebbles say 40lts wood say 20lts so we take off 160kgs witch leaves 1300kgs (give a few) what i am trying to do is work out a total weight so i can build a stand for it.i am not to worried about the small differance between the temp weight.with in 100 or so KGs will do just fine.then i just over construct it anyway. thanks for the help ps. if you ask anyone who has had a hand in carrying one thay just say F------G HEAVY. i would like a rough idear of its total weight befour i start building the stand

OK 240cm X 80cm X 60cm waterline divide by 1000 = 1152lts. i have been told that 1lt of water =1kg if this is right the water in the tanks weight is 1152kg. pebbles = 80kg, alpine schist = 200kg, wood and other pieces = 25kg, comes to a total of 1457kg. NOW can any one tell me what the weight of the glass is? the glass is 12mm thick.

i would like to know also. i have grown some pretty big fish (and very healthy)feeding them most of what you say i should'nt why
-
no i had to split them up,no damage to anyone but the bigger one just wont stop pushing the other around,he was not a happy fish after 24 hrs.he's only happy when he has someone to push around.i'm getting a female off KM tomorrow to put with the big fella,so i hope that thay get on better, male and female should get on well.(fingers crossed)

when i put my cichlids in a new home i put them in one at a time ,weekest to strongest, around 1 hour apart, then every coupel of fish i change the caves so thay dont get to settled and try to defend a cave againest a fish that is way to big for it,my small jack tryes to take on a very large red head.for him i build a few small homes that none of the bigger fish can get into,he will usually settel for one of these instead of the nice big cave. i find i need at least one home per fish and a coupel of extras in case thay decide to move. hope all goes well in the move, new tank looks great, alpine shist always looks good.2 or 3 more layers of rocks would cool.

goldfish, goldfish, goldfish a good looking fish is always a good looking fish,if there is something wrong with one of my community fish, yes in it goes that is nature, the strong eat the weak, but not a healthy fish. try some tadpoles when in season, garden worms, praying mantis,if you get off on a large fish getteng hammered try GOLDFISH.

just bought a sheet of poly 2400 x 1200 x 25 $15.50 from mega miter 10

hi gretal i am not sure of the suppliers you have near you but if you go to a packing supplier or a insulation supplier or a fridge builder (LARGE) or go to the building sites near you and look for a builder that is using poly in his building (calding or under slab) and ask where thay get it from. poly dose not level the tank nor dose it take out any bows or twists; poly is there to support the base of the tank. it will take out sharp bumps (for lack of a better word) or maby protect the tank from a stone or nail sticking out of the stand that you did not see. the poly is used for its compression strength. it is your stand that needs to be flat and strong enough to hold the tanks weight. 15 mm max in thickness is all that is required for any tank say 1000 lts down good luck
