  1. oh yeah, insurance. Did I mention that after the sloshing, my tank fell over and smashed to pieces
  2. about that time I noticed the water in my big tank sloshing from end to end, An earthquake did cross my mind though i certainly didn't feel one. Wonder if that's what it was. We are in Wanganui.
  3. I stripped down and moved a 5ft tank a couple of weeks ago, The tank is on a steel stand. Put the poly sheet on, filled the tank, got the fish in , looked beautiful. Turned around and gasped when I saw the sheet of chipboard that the tank sits on standing behind me. I remembered reading this topic so I thought ok I'm going to take a chance here. So the tank is supported around the edges only. Mind you its all 4 edges. 2 weeks now so should be sweet. :-?
  4. there's a guy, Kevin who owns a LFS in Masterton. He used to (maybe still does) manage a swamp/wetland between Masterton and Carterton. maybe you could give him a call, he may be able to give you some clues.
  5. Hi, just to let you know if you don't know already, there is a new club recently formed in Palmy called Central Fishkeepers Club. Have a look here if you are interested. http://www.centralfishkeepers.org.nz/

    hi

well there you go Lyndy cos you are so clever you get a free pass straight ahead, don't worry about the cow. just keep an eye out for the duck though
  7. Deno

    hi

    don't blame the duck
  8. I do mine about every 4th or 5th water change so monthly give or take a week or two
  9. I would get another filter, to turn over the volume of water in both tanks 5 times an hour you would be looking at 1800 L/H. But then again with the amounts of water changing you are doing I don't know if it would make a lot of difference.
  10. So they get sick and die slowly
  11. I've been thinking about getting some of these too. I have a 65 litre tank sitting empty and thought some Brichardi might be ideal.
  12. I have 5 tanks in the same room and the only tank witout algae is the one with Brislenoses in it.
  13. Heir after having another look and think about I believe you are right, the LFS was wrong, it was several months ago. I tried to buy them but they were not for sale. At $50 each I probably don't need them that badly though.
  14. no those are not the fish I am talking about. I saw them in a LFS and was told they were rasboras
  15. A sward is something you get whacked with for critcising something as petty as a spelling mistake
  16. convicts would be ok as young'uns but will soon outgrow that tank too. Either stick to the small fish or get a bigger tank suitable for the bigger fish that you are keen on
  17. I can probably get there too, just means I have to get myself out of bed earlier to get some stuff done before I leave
  18. I once saw some striking rasbora scissortails, they had red and I think yellow in them. Has anyone else seen them or know anything about them and if theyr'e available?
  19. I've always preferred natural looking decor, plants and rocks, not big on ornaments but I do like the buddha scenes, I reckon you could do plenty with a theme like that
