Different crowd I guess, its only a bad line up from my perspective as someone who loved the BDO's of the late 90's when it was a predominantly rock festival. Comparing my past BDO's with this one its obvious why I'm not going and why it seems a bit weak. 1997 Soundgarden, Offspring, Prodigy, Fear Factory, Supergrass 1999 Marilyn Manson, Korn, Hole, Soulfly, Ash, Fatboy Slim 2000 Nine Inch Nails, Foo Fighters, RHCP, Blink 182, Chemical Brothers, Joe Sstrummer & Tthe Mescaleros 2007 Tool, Muse, The Killers, My Chemical Romance (:oops:), Jet 2008 RATM, Grinspoon.......

^ my thoughts exactly, I don't really want to pay $120 just to see rage. Compared to last year the line up is weaksauce! I might go if I can find a cheap ticket on trademe on friday, and I'll probably finish work at 4 then go to catch rage.

Its not a good feeling eh! Back in 2002 I sold all my fish because I was going overseas for six weeks, then moving from whangarei to hamilton a few months later, I think its the only time in the last 8 years I have been completely fishless!

Since coming out of brumation Chester has been hyperactive! Running around, climbing, jumping, and trying to run up the glass in the corner of the tank!! He kinda props himself up on his tail and trys to climb the glass, sometimes getting all four feet off the ground and just standing on his tail. Does anyone elses beardy do this? Anyway, he must have tired himself out doing it tonight and crashed whent he lights went off..... As we found him when we got home, half an hour after lights out. :lol:

Do you have an established tank/filter? Use as much water from an established tank (try for at least 20%) and run one filter thats already established while the FX5 is cycling. Alternately, run the FX5 for a couple of weeks on a tank thats been up and running for a while.

No, but the question is how fast will the fish grow, and how long will it take to out-grow that tank. And with a silver aro the answer is very fast, and not very long...

Thats sick!!! I saw a small flowerhorn [i think] at the goldfish pagoda with no tail, so I guess people here have read the article and decided its a good idea....

Jansens loaned me a big "koi net" to catch my 22" black aro when I sold it to them. It was a similar design to the normal nets but much sturdier and with coarser mesh. Worked well, do you guys still sell them Bjorn?

Doesnt sound good to me! I saw one hanging around the bottom in rotorua and it looked really unhealthy compared to the normal one in the tank next to it. Its a lot of money....

Kinda sounds like a regurgitated version of my larered mexican dip! Sour cream on the bottom, then avocado, then finely chopped fried bacon, then salsa and topped with cheese. Refrigerate for a few hours before serving, and serve with big corn chips!

South american biotope with big rocks and driftwood, uarus, angelfish, plecos, etc would be cool!

I'm surprised the pacu hasn't freaked out and either jumped out or broken the tank! How big is 'large'? I think the best result would be to put the fish down. Realistically, how many people in NZ can house a pacu for life? IMO they should NEVER be offered for sale to the general unsuspecting public, and should only be bought in to order for people who are serious about keeping them. just to remind everyone of the potential size of what we're talking about...

Yup, as I recall they're pricey too. Tanks2u made me a 4'x2'x2' glass one with sliding doors for $200. Beardies are dead easy to keep once you know what you're doing, there's plenty of good books on the subject and a lot of it has been covered here so have a read through some old posts.
