  1. American or indo? I've seen much bigger indos as they get up to 18", but AT's usually top out around 12", so that one is a monster.
  2. Nice! One of the biggest ones I've seen here! Would love to see one this big in an aquarium...
  3. I remember going on a cruise to Piha with the Honda club when I had my civic, we were all sitting around talking about how much we'd spent on cars and motorsport when we noticed two guys playing frisbee, completely amused and occupied by this $10 plastic disc, was pretty jealous that I couldn't be happy with a hobby like that......
  4. That there is the big problem with the system. What is generally available now was rare 5 years ago. FW rays, armartus, Lates Spp (perches), not to mention countless South/Central american cichlids (either newly described, reclassified or as-yet undescribed) have all gone from being rarities to fairly commonly available from specialist importers in the US in recent times. How am I supposed to provide "peer reviewed scientific papers" for every single variety of the Geophagus "surinamensis" complex when most of them are still waiting to be officially described? In essence they are pretty much the same fish, different species of the same group from a different river that are identical to anyone not clued up in the finer points of identifying them isn't going to pose any more/less threat, yet it is still required to be treated as if it comes from the other side of the world. Having an "allowed list" is really just a cop out, its much easier that trying to identify species that could pose a problem if released here. Its sad, but it is so unimportant in the greater scheme of things that it will never be changed.
  5. Goldfish can survive outdoors unheated in most parts of the country, the real question is if its not illegal to keep and breed goldfish why the hell can't we have fw rays?!?!?!
  6. Ha small world alright! I might try to come down for a look on Sunday if the sun is shining and I'm not flat out doing other things... [yeah, right]
  7. Red standard one would be his, although he's got some bilsteins and eibach springs coming, not sure if they'll be in before then.
  8. No hush order, the owner just requested pics weren't posted which is fair enough. The discussion thread on the track day is still open; http://nzhondas.com/forum/upper-north-i ... 5-a-3.html Sisters boyfriend is going to Hampton on Sunday, drives an 80's Opal Kadett...

    discus help

Small ones are hard work from what I've read, larger ones are more expensive but with discus its usually worth it. There is an article on them in this months PFK magazine, although a lot of it isn't relevant to us as it talks about the differences between european and asian bred discus, there are still some good points in the article.
  10. Hardly surprising, those days at puke have got a bit of a reputation. Apparently the guy was running a full slick on the front right, semi slick on the front left, and two brand new not scrubbed in semis on the back, along with 6-pot callipers on the front and stock brakes on the back with no bias adjustment. Car seemed to hold up quite well with no cage...
  11. RTG looks good and that del has great patterns Henward!! And I borrowed a pic of your heckelii to post here; http://fishkeepers.co.nz/forums/viewtop ... =18&t=2446

    updates :)

Similar to silver in the wild, smaller in captivity.
  13. Post some pics Nav!! I was seriously disappointed when the latest lot didn't arrive.

    updates :)

Trust me, its worth the extra $$ to get a black. Not as large growing or aggressive, much better looking. Once you go black you'll never go back...
  15. I'm pretty sure a mate got diversions for a minor cannabis offence years ago, although the rules may have changed since then?

    updates :)

Would look good with a black aro swimming around the upper level......
  17. No such thing as an albino with a black eye (except perhaps that monk on the Da Vinci Code?), more likely the seller doesn't know what albino means...
  18. That fish in the first pic has got some pretty good/unusual colouration and would be worth a bit of money to someone who wanted to do some selective breeding. Unfortunately people in this hobby often have a "cheap is good" mantra and would rather pay $10 for a "breeding pair" of unscrupulously selected siblings than a higher price for quality fish, so its highly unlikely anyone would bother trying to breed quality convicts (or other easy fish like kribs, jewels etc)...
  19. Not going to happen, decided I can't trust them with the bigger fish.....
  20. IIRC there were three in that tank at hollywood.
  21. Looks like a dempsey to me (which is now in the genus Rocio), the eye spot at the base of the tail and the reddish coloured fins seems a bit more defined that usual.
