  6. lol yes its a sign of the times id rather do another haircut a week and pay for the dryer than peg washing out  my life is far too short to peg washing out oh and clean ovens oh and..........
  7. yes all run between 29 and 30,the wetback is a life saver as i change 150g of 30degree water daily also my mother with her $30 power bill is horified but i ask forgiveness from the power gods and i love my fish

  9. thats for sure its a very jaded person that cannot view scenes such as the mother and calf being hauled onto whaler ship and not feel sadness or remorse . A wonderfull book if anyones interested is "sounding "by Hank Searls after reading this you will never wiew whales as a mere commodity

  14. i would only use nonchelated normal salt if i were trying to treat an external parasite for the bloat id use epsom
  15. i only use epsom salt as it achieves the same things the link i posted gives a good run down of problems treated by salt for bloat epsom would be best if no improvement in 12 hours the dosage of 1 tablespoon per 10gallon can be doubled safely
  16. yes your right 2 differnt compounds but often plain epsom salt is packaged and labled as tonic salt in treating bloat both compounds will achieve the same result possiblt the epsom salt more effective i didnt mean to mislead anyone as both are tolerated by most fish
  17. sorry tonic salt and epsom salt are one and the same thing http://www.fish-helpline.co.uk/health/tonic_salt.html
  18. you can use normal salt as long as it has no chelating agents in but epsom salt is avaiable at pet shops labled as tonic salt but is cheaper in supermarkets
  19. Im not familar with betas but with my discus they do this when bloated and i find epsom salt at 1 tablespoon per 10gallons is magic and helps to move any blockage
  20. thats great that would work out best do you have a picture of some sort or can you just try an explane how you want it and i can work out how much materials well need and cost im happy to build it for nufin but if you pay for timber etc that be sweet my phone number is home 5410414 or work 5418312
  21. I live on rabbit island do you want it freestanding or fixed? if freestanding i might be able to build at home and then move it otherwise fixed is fine

  23. Hi mabe start off with 50g bare bottom tank temp around 84-86 oF couple of sponge filters mabe canister as well(discus dont like current so i face my spray bar towards the back)making sure filters are cycled of corse .6 juvies is a good number to grow out lots and lots of water changes the more the better at least 50% every other day if possible.ph is not so much a problem as long as its stable aged water is best so mabe concider setting up a storage barrel, feeding usually bloodworms tetra, colour discus tucker(beefheart)good for growth but need water change after feeding beefheart. hope this helps some
