  2. Hi ya you could also add salt at 1 T per 40 ltr this wont help much in regards to the ammonia but it will help if you get traces of nitrite which you may with an ammonia spike.

    Mycobacterium.

The thing that got me was that I destroyed the ones that had it and they destroyed fish that didn't ---much to my discust.

    Mycobacterium.

Anyone battled with mycobacterium? What antibiotics did you use and what sort of results did you get?
  10. what about a bearded dragon?
  11. Id go the pp treatment if dosed correctly is very effective but only my opinion
  12. Ive found melifix to be totally useless id wait for the furan2 in the meantime tonic salt rock salt or ordinary table salt(as long as theres no non chelating agent) will give them some releif in the meantime 1or 2 Tablespoon per 10g In defence of he seller shipping is very stressfull on fish and most things that aile our fish are present in small doses and factors such as stress can increace to point that immune systems dont cope.Discus are not renound for their immunity. At ph of 5.5 and below (natural habitat)bactaria ceases to exist hence low immunity
  13. no they are differnt try a chemist
  14. epsom salt at 1 tablespoon per 10g if no improvement in 12 hours it can be doubled but i think you may be dealing with more than a blockage by the sounds of it
  15. I would do a corse of furan 2 i think it covers gram negitive and gram positive so should clear it up without a microscope its only educated guess work lol
  16. I dont believe in low dose meds they cause resistant to meds either kick it in the ass or not at all. If there isnt a problem with your tank i wouldnt medicate .
  17. all medication poses some risk(mainly incorect dosage, and just intolerence by some fish) I quarantine all new fish for 6weeks without exceptions i prefer to only medicate if there is a cause to. Yes paranoia can take over but usually if i know a fish is not right i will observe for a couple of days before acting both medications are generally tolerated very well
  18. I would treat tank anyway metro is reasnable safe and there does seam to be a problem once overcome with an ailment medical intervention is needed .If fish are still eating treating food may be eaiser althow i like to treat tank then i know its going to get in
  19. I would advise you to treat the whole tank ,you can lower water level to conserve on meds .Remove any carbon from filters if yoiu run any as this will make medication useless .if your other fish will tolerate it crank the temp up to 32oC. you need to get an accurate volume of tank so you can treat . 1 tablet will treat 10gallons mix tablets in warm water and shake till your arm drops off then add to tank metro is ineffective after 8 hours 4 doses is usually enough waterchanges after 8 hours of treatment is recomended
  20. The best way to measure accuratley is to make a stock solution of 20grams of pp in 1 litre of warm to hot water shake to mix then add ,20 drops will treat 10 litres at 2ppm and so on.The aim is to retain the purple pinkish colour for 4 hours if water turns brown there is too much organic matter in tank you can add more stock solution relatively safely up to 6 ppm
  21. in my understanding 4 hours treatment with pp then neutralise with 1 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide then massive water change if no improvement re dose again next day
