  1. 4ft is the one on top in that picture. I have 2 one is cracked. Its fine for a bearded dragon, I wouldn't try holding water in it though unless you want to silicone it up.
  2. Hey guys, so while I'm back in NZ I'm trying to have a clean out of my storage unit. I have some glass tanks and 2 original EPS DELUXE Enclosure Shell 2nds. The glass tanks have sliding doors and lids. The lids have thermostats, uv battens, and fittings for heat lamps etc. The tanks were used when we were breeding, I think theres a crack in 1 of them, and they need a clean, but like I say they are going cheap and they need to be picked up by Saturday. $200 for 4ft EPS DELUXE Shell. These are 2nds and have some scratches etc. $80 for 4ft glass tank and lid. I have 2 of these. $60 for 3ft glass tank and lid. contact: [email protected] I have a 5ft with a hardwoord lid with lights etc that might be available if someone can give me a good offer on it. Not the best pic of the 5ft tank, and one of the 4ft tank on the top.
  3. Thank you everyone, once again I am impressed with the amount of people who are willing to give a needy dragon a good home. Dragon was picked up today, sorry to anyone that I didn't reply to. Cheers
  4. Enclosure is 4 x 2 x 2, Glass sliding doors on front.
  5. Hey guys, Anyone interested in a free bearded dragon with enclosure? Im living in Aus now, and a friend of mine has inherited a dragon from someone who didn't feel they could look after it anymore. He knew I'd be able to find it a home so he accepted it. I'm going to be back in Auckland on the 17th of July to the 24th. Pick up could be made in that time. I don't know to much about it, I haven't seen any photos, just what he's told me. It's approximately 1.5 years old, not sure of size or condition yet. Its been fed on vegetables and pellet food its whole life, and I've been told it was fed crickets and mealworms for the first half of its life but then live food became too expensive. The enclosure is a glass EPS enclosure, it has a basic lid with lights and thermostat etc. I think there might be a crack in the enclosure, but i'm not sure. Enclosure needs new lamps, but we can work out a deal on that. Im sorry I can't give you more information, I just thought i'd post this to see if there's any interest. I'll update this post once I see it, with its sex and condition. This could be a really good opportunity for someone who's been thinking about a getting a bearded dragon or maybe can't afford one. You'd also be saving a little bearded dragon and giving it a better life. You can PM on here, or email at [email protected] Thanks guys.
  6. Hey guys, went to Taronga Zoo on Wednesday. Thought i'd share some of what I saw. They had some really cool reptiles. The komodo dragon and the anaconda in particular. Some of the photos aren't super clear, and they are a bit out of order, but enjoy. Check it out: Cool Sculpture in the harbour Komodo Dragon File Snakes Tuatara Reticulated Python Sailfin Lizard Egyptian Cobra Star Tortoises Green Anaconda Boa Constrictor feeding on mouse Basilisk Green Iguanas Massive Snake-Neck, this thing was like hub-cap sized Red-Bellied Black Snake River Cooters Baby Saltwater Crocodile Johnston's Crocodile Komodo Dragon Veiled Chameleon White-Lipped Tree Frog Gila Monster Anaconda Rhinoceros Iguana Some sort of skink, can't remember Frilled Dragon Baby Saltwater Crocodile Crevice Dragon Giant Cave Gecko Blue Tongue Skink Johnston's Crocodile
  7. Hey Matt, How's Spike doing? Settling in ok?
  8. Sorry, they are inland bearded dragons. If there are any people in Auckland that are interested in taking them on please let me know. 021447911 Thanks
  9. Hey I just want to say I think it's great that I've had so many people respond from up and down the country. You guys are awesome. I have limited access to the internet at the moment so if I haven't replied to your pm's thats why. I'll be calling all the people that have messaged me. I feel the dragons need to be kept separately, so if anyone out there thinks they can look after just one of them message me too. Thanks guys
  10. Hey guys, I've had 2 baby dragons dropped off to me over the weekend. I don't know much about where they came from or who. The person who gave them to me only said that they belonged to someone who under estimated the care that was required and decided they could no longer care for them. They are supposed to be a 9-10 months old, but are very small. One is missing the end of its tail and is a bit shaky. The other is the larger of the 2 and has missing digits on two feet. I've had them 2 days now, they are ferocious eaters, love beans, carrot, mealworms, and crickets. They are both great little guys, that just need some love and attention. I'm moving to Australia in a few weeks, so I can't look after them, but I just couldn't turn them away. Please if any one is interested in taking them on, contact me 021447911. I can help with enclosure, lighting, food etc. Cheers, Tyson
  11. Thats cool. Anyone know anyone who keeps tunnel webs or avondale spiders? would love to have one. I keep a Badumna insignis at the moment, she's awesome, I feed her whatever I can catch.
  12. Hi, your temp at the basking spot should be around 40 degrees. Your cooler side should be around 26 degrees. There should be a gradient in temperature between the 2 sides. Also, your dragon should be getting 14 hours of sunlight a day during summer. Do this and I'm positive you will see a change within 2 days. Hope that helps
  13. Pro Tip: Microwave your wheatgerm and let it cool down before you use it. Don't keep anything you buy from Bio Supplies anywhere near your own stock. Their waxworms gave me mites twice before i realized that's where they were coming from.
  14. There's some really good ones on that 'other site' atm. Search 'reptile vent' and you should find them. Pretty cheap too.
  15. Hey mate, well done with the website. i only had a quick look, but one major thing you need to fix, is the spelling and punctuation. It was very difficult to read. Ask a parent or someone older to go through it with you and fix it up. Alternatively, if you copy the text into Microsoft Word, that would take care of most of it for you with 'spellcheck'. Tyson
  16. No because it is unlikely that the rocks would get scalding hot, unless, possibly during the middle of the day. During that time you wont find many reptiles basking, for just that reason, because it is way too hot. In the wild, reptiles usually bask in the mid morning sun, or the afternoon sun, and keep out of direct sunlight during the hottest part of the day. The problem with heat pads is that they come with no heat regulation, this combined with bearded dragons natural lack of heat sensitivity underneath provides a situation where burns can occur. By connecting a thermostat to the heat pad, and placing the probe on its surface, you should be able to regulate the temp quite accurately, I would also suggest placing something over the heat mat so that your dragon cannot come in direct contact. I use Exotic Pet Supplies melamine enclosures for my 3 girls, much less heating is required. I have a ceramic heat lamp controlled by a thermostat which is on constantly, this regulates the daytime ambient temp, and provides the night heating. I use a 100W basking lamp for the hot side, this is controlled by a dimmer which is set to about half during summer. This doubles the life of the lamp and provides more heat for less power. I have never had to use any other heat sources since I got these enclosures. In this pic there is a 40W lamp on the cool side, pic is from when I first got it. Didn't need it once everything was running.
  17. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/world/863766/snake-born-with-hand AWESOME!!!
  18. How long have they been together for? Age is important, if your female is less than a year and a half old I would seperate them to stop them from breeding. The male matures much faster than the female and it can be really stressful on young females. Also, arm waving is a recessive gesture, its not a 'hey come over here', its more of a 'you're the boss / please don't hurt me' type thing. Head bobbing is a dominant gesture, kinda like flexing your muscles so to speak. These things are often looked at as being cute etc.. and people will try to sell them to you saying that its is just a pecking order type thing, but its not good. It can lead to biting and serious harm to either or both of your dragons. However, if your dragons are of age and what they are doing really is a part of courting then my suggestion is to monitor them and have a divider or second cage at the ready just in case.
  19. These are some cool pics I've found. Asian Water Monitor (pic from bayareareptiles.com) Albino Green Iguana (pics from tomcrutchfield.com) Big Bearded Dragon (pic from photobucket) Will post some pics of reptiles from last trip to Melbourne later
  20. What you are actually keeping would be better. And under other: please just write what it is if you are happy to say. Thank you
  21. I would put that down to a full stomach and a bad angle. She's a big girl, but not fat.
  22. The crickets will be active at night, the fear is that the crickets will bite or try and nibble on the dragon while it is slow or sleeping. Also, they make a bloody annoying noise. I had one stuck up in a corner of my cage, I tried everything to kill the damn thing. Finally managed to grab it with tweezers after a week and fed it to puff. I now make sure i know how many i put in, and check on how many are left after a few hours. If she hasn't caught them I put them in front of her. I will never leave crickets in overnight again.
  23. **Please sticky this thread as it could be a great resource** Every other forum has one, I think there should be one here too. I'm particularly interested in seeing any water dragon enclosures out there. Also, any frog enclosures! and the star. Puffin Cage is designed and constructed by NZ Vivarium Systems.
