Welcom boban_nz, hope to see you here often. I couldn't resist the challenge http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http: ... as.org.nz/ http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/vali ... as.org.nz/ and you are right, let's talk about fish related things here. Cees

    USEFUL LINKS

Thank you pegasus, very useful Even pointed me to a number of 'forgotten' articles I still need to transfer. www.1research2webdesign.co.nz has 2 more weeks to live and then the plug will be pulled on that server :-( All relevant content will be transfered to this site (eventually).
  5. Ladies, don't you get it yet. I just 'cut and paste' and move on to the next thing on the 'to do list' Cees

    Anenome injury

What does the 'retired software developer' mean and tell us more about your involvement with the aquarium hobby. How did you find the NZ fishroom?

John Abela as in phpbb John Abela?? Thank you Thank you and Thank you
  9. My experience, If you want them to eat the dreaded 'red beard algae'... don't feed them for a while at least. Otherwise they get lazy.
  10. my 2 cents. If you're on a budget you can leave out the solenoid and spent the $ on a good quality needle valve, sometimes called 'metering valve'. You can get away with a plastic petshop valve but it works much better with a good quality valve. A starting point for a supplier could be 'Alltech New Zealand' in Auckland [email protected] (at least according to my latest catalog). Not sure wich one you would need but a Nupro B-4MG2 has been mentioned on other sites. http://aquaticconcepts.thekrib.com/Articles/book.htm

    Hi All

Another milestone coming soon. 1000 posts! On April 6 2002 (about one year old) we had less than 400.
  12. Yes, I dealed with that company before. Imported a case (12 cans) for the Upper Hutt club about 3 years ago. Good service. I'm now using my last can. Still hatching.

    Native fish

http://www.nzfreshwater.org/ not sure if site is any good. My browser didn't like the java applet frontpage please report back
  18. I'm pretty sure they are imported as SAE's. I've got 3 left, had 6 before but they jumped. I know they are SAE's because I don't have any Red Brush Algae. You see them in Wellington area shops regularly. I got them a year ago through the Upper Hutt Club. See, it pays to join a real club.

    Name that fish

    1. Poster gives the first clue and how many attempts are to be allowed (not class, or sub class, but possibly region only or something). 2. Each member then gets one question eg Is it a catfish? Is is a bottom dweller? 3. The same member cannot ask two questions in a row but may follow after another person has asked. 4. The poster can only answer Yes or No but may say if the member is getting 'warmer' or 'colder'. 5. The fish must be a freshwater or brackish species and still available to aquarists, either here or overseas, with recognition in fish books or magazine. Think of games like "20 Questions" and "What's My Line?" (those old enough to remember black and white TV!) and you will get the idea. Please start a new topic with every new 'Name that fish'
  20. http://www.hut.fi/~lsarakon/akva.html good article good drawings
