I paid 320 for a 130ltr filter, heater and stand no plants one fish checky BN. However I wanted it, only way I was going to get my bigger tank. so agree it is only worth what someone wants to pay.

Yes well done. I set up 2 new tanks about three weeks ago. Must be too blonde as I can't seem to get the links to snapfish working so no photos from me. :roll:

Ok so I only start being obecessed with fish this year. Had to buy a new tank as my 75ltr was too small. Now have two tanks 75 & 130ltrs. The small tank is now housing 10 Guppies that I brought off trademe on the weekend. The bigger tank has 4 DG's 2 BN's and 7 neons. Tried Cherry Barbs to start with they died on my within about two weeks so got the DNs. I used to think these were the ugliest fish but i have become very attached to "rocky 1" and "balboa" They are most active and funny to watch. I have some DG's & neons as well but they tend to be very shy. Was going to add another type of fish for interest any suggestions not necessary the nicest looking fish but something with character looked at tiger barbs but after reading about them maybe not.

Cool I'll try that. She came with my new tank so must have done this before. My baby BN stays glued to the log and doesn't go anywhere.

yep shes out thought I was going to have to pull her out. Looked so funny. If the like fast running water should I put an airstone bubble thing in. Shes probably about 10cm big.

I just looked in my tank and my BN had its head stuck in the water flow pipe(clean water). Wish I had a camera handy. She sat there for about 5 minutes

I put a pot in my tank and only my gourami's and neons use it. How do you tell if the Bn's female or male?

Hi all. Brought a new tank on weekend to house my D Gournamis,bn and 9 neon's. I think it will hold 180 ltrs. Yipee. My old tank is 50lx40wx50h I want to know if I can put some baby angles in here or is the tank too small. If it is to small would a male Saimse Fighting fish and two females work in the tank? or do I need to stick to a small school of fish?

they are beauties Shame your not up here I would make my husband come and see them. I wanted a boxer and ended up with a SPCA special think he's border collie but brown and white. :bounce:

Thanks. This fish thing is addictive need bigger tank so I can have more DG's as they are cool. Family think I'm mad as I sit watching them instead of the telly. Maybe when I get a bigger one I'll add a couple of girls. Also my one BN does he need another to keep him company? He seems happy and is often exploring the tank when not hiding under the log.

Hi all Two weeks ago I brough 2 lovely metelic blue gournamis. They are very entertaining. The pet shop told me hey were both boys. I notice one has been building a nest and is quite bossy to the other fish. Should I get a couple of girls to keep them company. I don't want to breed them. I have a planted tank the these two and 9 neons abd a bn. Was looking at getting 2 Platys but if the DG's need female company to keep them happy will get them instead. Any advise?

Is this like small particles that float at the top of the water. Water tests perfect but there is diffenately tiny stuff in it? I recently lost all my Cherry Barbs to white spot after new plants put in tank. Suspect something up with them. I also now have about 50 million baby snails that never where there before.

my neons are great no spots swimming around happy as usual eating everything. I have just read that I shoud hve taken the carbon filters out so I will remove them retreat and see what happens.

my Cherry arbs are dying on me I have now only got three left. I have treated them for whte spot but tey are still infected. Water tested fine and turned the temp to 28. What do I do next?

Well tested water and all was good. Have treated the white spot and it looks like ts clearing up unfortunately I have lost one of the barbs. I have turned the temp up to 28 for winter as suggested by the pet shop. He seemed to think 25 was too low for this time of the year and could be causing the stree.

I am an IT Manager. Love my job just don't like the people so much. Just finished mobile phone chnge over I didn't know people were soooooo precious about there phones. I want to move to the Coromandel and do something arty maybe when my son leaves home I'll do it.

doing water changes every 7 days. About 1/4 of the tank. The water I change it with is straight from the tap. I have read recently that this is not a good thing perhaps this is causing it. I will test the water tomorrow. Could this be caused by overfeeding at the moment I feed them in the morning and at night it is all gone in about 5-7 mnutes.

It is an Aqua 510. Came with filter and lights on top. 75ltr. I think I made a mistake with this tank as it is quite small and I would like to have a varity of comunity fish and realise that I can prbably only have my 9 neons 5 barbs and prbably one or two more little ones. I looked at the deseases site and am pretty sure it is white spot. There is a great article on it in there and I will try the temperature cure.
