hmm.. I haven't had any problems and have noticed my 4 ft has been as high as 34! Maybe I'm lucky haha - will definately keep an eye on it though.

I removed all the cabomba and scooped all the duckweed out - the only thing that has worked!!! I replaced the cabomba with some from another tank, now I have a sever case of green, almost opaque water! :( Fish don't seem to mind though!

Have you considered creating a biotype aquarium? Making the theme a "regional" theme and choosing fish & plants that occur together naturally?

This has merit. At the very least they can point you in the right direction and perhaps tell you where you stand in terms of NZ law (yes - I just said NZ law without falling off my chair with laughter)

Burman or Burmese? My parents had a Burmese stolen from the North Shore about 6 years ago and it is apparently not uncommon. The thing with cats is, to the untrained eye, they can look very very similar. Are there any uniquely distinguishing features/scars? imperfections in the eyes, scruffy ears etc?

how would one determine the output necessary to maintain their tanks? I'm assuming you wouldnt need the lights, only the filter and heater running?

What's the pricing & availability like for one of these? Are they easy enough to use? Whetu's raised an interesting point and I have an awful lot of livestock that I would HATE to lose and also costly to replace, and I know compared to alot of other posters here, I'm at the lower end of the spectrum!
