  1. Hey I bought a albino senegal ( :bounce: ) the other day and I was wondering what all you bichir keepers feed yours. I bought a packet of hikari sinking carnivore pellets and some frozen fish meal. So far all he/shes been eating is a block of the fish meal. Any other suggestions on food?
  2. From memory they were cheap, $15 ono. I can't be 100% certain because on their tank, all it said was headstanders $15 dollars. But they did look very much like them.
  3. Oh yeah, I also saw a couple of Chilodus punctatus today at LFS
  4. Up in HFF theres a striped headstander. I havn't see any around of either species except for this one. From what I've read theyre fine with other fish, but may get territorial with their own kind.
  5. Just to let everyone know, the treatment finished about a week ago and it worked wonders. Thanks all for your contributions
  6. What Stella said but I add a little bit of hot water to the bucket of cold water to try and get the temp as close to 25 degrees as possible. I do this only for my smaller tanks, but for the big tank I just get the water straight from the hose. I use tank water so it's not that vital that I use a water conditioner before adding water to the aquarium. You should get a mod to delete your other post on this subject in the freshwater section.
  7. Lucky boy zach I had 3 brown shavers from when they were young chicks to when they stopped laying eggs. They were really cool... except for their poos that they left everywhere
  8. hey mr pleco just thought i'd remind you that i still want a couple of your kings tiger plecs, just have to wait for an algae bloom to get sorted. one question, the tank they're going in is a 4fter, is it fine to have 2 in there or will the scrap with eachother?
  9. cool tank evil_elmo I've got a Lido 120 aswell. It got setup in march(?) and it's planted aswell. But ofcourse it's not as nice as yours
  10. hey dominique. Welcome to the forums
  11. Ok I have another post about my newly setup tank. The aquarium water has always been a bit cloudy, we suspect it is from our severum fluffing up the sand which we sometime see him do, but today the water has a greenish tinge to it and the visability is quite low. What can I do to help it clear back up?

    hello all

Hi dusty and welcome to the forums
  13. Ok well it time for an update on how the fish are doing... So far noone has died which is good. I have added altogether 20 tbsp of rock salt to the tank over a 24 hr period (too much salt - too little salt?) and the temp is at a stable 29-30oC The fish look fine and healthy (other than their white spots) and I hope the spots should "drop off" in the next 3 days (?) But as said I will wait a further week after no spots are visable. Once again thanks for all the advise received. (EDITS: spelling and missed some info)
  14. Ok I've increased the temp to 28. So basically all I can do is raise temp and add rock salt (how much? it's a 370 litre tank.)? The only other fish in the tank is a 3" severum. Thanks for your quick replies btw
  15. Well I was looking at my new tank today and I discovered that my recently purchased silver dollars have white spot. I don't have any meds to help them atm other than melafix (but I don't think that would do much?) but can anyone offer advise on experience with them and ich or on what I can do to help them? (this is my first white spot epidemic!!! ) Any advise VERY happily accepted Cheers
  16. Depending on filtration, since oscars have the ability to get quite hugeand are messy, I would say 1 bottomfeeder. You would need to make sure that the bottomfeeder wouldn't fit in the oscars mouth or it would become a quick meal.
  17. For one oscar by itself, for it to have enough space to move around and be happy, I would say a tank around the 300 litre mark would do fine.
  18. What Ira said. Had a couple down here a couple of months ago, they're really cool
  19. Happy Birthday Caryl! :bounce: Your birthdays one day after mine!
