I've got all the LEDs wired up for my moonlight. And I've discovered that I really...Really...REALLY suck at soldering. And it turns out the voltage with the resistor is too low running all 10 LEDs, It's about 2.8 volts, I'd have preferred it up to the rated 3.2, but not a big deal. Oh, and I think I damaged one of the LEDs playing with it over the last couple days. It's noticably dimmer than the others, probably damaged by putting a bit too much voltage through it.

So far my tank's solid at 24.8-24.9°C even with the lights on. So, I'm hoping that means I won't have to go as far as getting a chiller this summer and can get away with a fan on the sump.

My glass shrimp will eat from my hand without a problem and clean my arms. At least until my brain suddenly realizes, "AAHHH! GIANT WATER BUGS ON MY ARM!!!"

Nono, I meant 8 hours too far to give you a hand. I only go about half an hour drive to get water. and it looks like it takes about 45 minutes to collect 200 liters. So, not too bad, gotta get me some hip waders I think, make it a bit of a dryer job.

Why are reefracks better than using a couple pieces of liverock. I know better flow, but wouldn't that be offset by the disadvantages of having less liverock?

I've got 3 corals, actually. Small ones. And if I find I need a calcium reactor, I'll get a calcium reactor. But soft corals aren't as demanding for calcium so I'll probably be fine with dosing kalk, once I get enough to worry about it anyway. Damn, I forgot to add the price of my skimmer, bump that $5 up to $7. If you want to talk the new, retail price for everything, make it somewhere around $15.60/liter.

I'd set it up for more than 20%. A constant 20% is going to be less of a water change than a single 20%. Something more like 33% would be better, imo. What I'd do is set up a slow drip into the tank and an overflow out. I suppose a quick and dirty overflow would be a hose in the tank going out, downwards and then back up with the to of the outlet being the height you want the water in the tank to be. So as the water pours in the water will dribble out of the hose. If you've got a convenient window or something to run the hose outside through.

I think I'm only around $5/liter I'd include the price of the sump and everything, just not the volume. But, yeah, right now I'm around $1.8k and still have a handful of little bits of equipment I want. That's for hardware alone. Well, live rock and base rock, I'd call that hardware.

Yeah, tinyest drill bit I've got. It's not the standpipe that's on an angle, the endcap is. Because if it's all the way on of course the pipe siphons and then loses the siphon, but totally off you can hear it on the opposite side of the house.

Hmmm, Ok, I might just try drilling a little hole in the endcap, as it is I've got it sitting on the top but at an angle to let air in.
