  1. Ah, ok, should be fine for basically a FOWLR then.
  2. You're going to want a lot more light than a single tube though if you're wanting to have any kind of coral.
  3. At the very least replace it with a daylight tube.
  4. A few snails, all rockpool snails, they don't seem to do too well. I need to get some tropical snails.(Ugh, another thing to spend money on)
  5. OH! ok, now I see it in the big pic. Yeah, probably some kinda insect larvae.
  6. UV light? You mean a UV sterilizer? You don't really want that...
  7. I know you said in the middle, I still don't see it! Bloodworms are midge? larvae. Bug comes along, lays eggs in your tank, you've got bloodworms. Unless you feed them live bloodworms, feeding them frozen or freeze dried bloodworms isn't going to put them in your tank because they're all dead.
  8. I don't see anything in the picture. But if it's red, I'd think it's more likely it's just a bloodworm than a khuli loach fry. Hard to say without seeing it.
  9. I bought the ones above one of my tanks at Lamp Specialists in Petone, they're 25ish watt, 6500K for I think it was $12 each.
  10. I'm not understanding what you mean. They're not that long, most are maybe 6-9" long or less. You could just swap them with the bulbs in there.
  11. They're all over the place and that's the whole point of them, that they screw into a normal light fitting. You may have a hard time finding 6500K ones, most are lower kelvin, but any lighting specialty place should have them.
  12. Critter guy, get some screw in flouros. they'll use about 1/4 the electricity, and look a lot better than blue painted incandescents.
  13. You're better off spending the money you'd have spent on the fluval on a couple more powerheads or a skimmer. Unless you've already got the fluval of course. Makes a good place to put phosphate absorber and similar though, but you'd want to run it without any sponges or media.

    me nano

How big is that? Looks a bit big for a nano. Looks good though.

    New nano TOTM

I've had mine for about 6 months, hasn't jumped out.

    New nano TOTM

You could just set up something like a constant drip on a small nano, 100% change a week.
  17. Never used it in any of my semi planted tanks. Never seemed to need it, barely any algae at all in them, just a hint of it in the crevices of some rocks. Yet, my marine tank which I DO use phosphate remover in...I think there's more mass of algae than rock...
  18. Males are supposed to be more colorful, but judging from the glowing red my females would get when they're about to lay I find that hard to believe.
  19. The moderators are discussing some pretty heavy bans and/or completely shutting down the forum at the moment since some people obviously haven't learned to behave.
  20. That's the best post I've seen in this forum in ages. Thanks, AF.
  21. Could be the leather is just grumpy from being disturbed. Give him a few more days before you start to worry. Mine seem to do that if I'm in a bad mood and walk past the tank.
  22. Yup, looks like a common plec. At around a foot I'd say it's in the range of 2-3 years old, maybe a bit older, depends on how well it was taken care of.
  23. I'll split a bag with you, Pies. Well...a kilo or so anyway.
