    a short finned male (plakat-PK) is exactly the same as a long fin VT unless it is a halfmoon plakat (HMPK( they are the same as a halfmoon but have short fins, a HMPK has more rays in their fins giving them a D shaped tail)) so breeding PK with a VT will result in all VT's and maybe a possible PK

    a male makes nests when they are happy so you have a happy boy there 3 months should be old enough to breed from aslong as your boy isnt too small and can wrap the female

    generally they should be able to breed but if it is genetic them remember the fry wont have them either but if it is water conditions that prevented the fish from having them then it shouldnt effect your fry does this female have ventrical fins? she doesnt appear to in the photo

    yeah i asked bout these pairs at animates and they arent halfmoon. i thought that they were a bit over priced $110 for a pair of plakats

    getting a female should be alright but not a male -males and females shouldnt be kept together and only be together for a short time while breeding -if you plan to get more than one female you will need 4-5 females to spread out aggression

    the problem with putting two togehter when one isnt ready is that it could end up in a death say the female wasnt ready and the male was then the male could kill the female!

    sounds like you need to condition the female

    take all your females out of the tank move some plants around and redecorate a bit and then add the females together into the tank this way they have to set up a new pecking order also try to have atleast 4-5 females so that aggression is spread out and check you dont have a little plakat (short finned) male
