  4. the pk goes a lovely metalic green iridescent cellophane in the sunlight, very nice and good luck with the spawn :bounce: :bounce:
  5. the pk is going pretty good he is i bit quiet and shys away when the tank light is on so i tend to just leave him with natural sunlight and then he is pretty active. yup, ial is in all the boys tanks, the ct isnt too sure about it but is starting to swim up to it now lol nd the vt has blownthousands of little bubbles everywhere, just not in one spot
  6. haha your male looks kinda crap in that photo ( no offense) , he looks heaps better in person :bounce:
  7. may i ask where you got such wonderful cts from?
  8. yeah any chance your not wanting the blue i will always have a tank here for him( or at least i can find a tank for him)
  9. she looks more cambodian red than orange from that photo
  10. does any one have orange bettas? any tail types, just wondering if we have any around as ive not heard about them cheers ashley
  11. i am definately interested, was looking at getting some sent here also :bounce: :bounce:
  12. ive been after the double tails for a while but no one has had them in the south island
  13. well the father has some heavy branching which would mean he has some rosetail in him, that still makes him a pure Hm rosetail just means he has heavy branching or lots of rays, none of the fry look to be heavy rosetails but i would suggest breeding them to a Hm female with less ray branching, maybe 4-6 rays another problem you can get with rosetails is they normally have scale faults, some can have major scale faults, and scale faults can be passed to their fry if bred from ashley
  14. yes half suns are Ct x Hm and any photos of the mum tailed fish you got and possibly photos of their parents?? i think many fish will breed in their own tine, some as soon as you release the females others do wait untill early morning etc i also have heard that bettas breed best during a full moon, i havent tried it as i can only breed every 3 months or so but it could be worth a try
  15. images of TRUE HALFSUNS http://www.bettas4all.nl/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1083 ashley
  16. ha ha i spend most of my time reading about bettas because i have a limit to how many fish tanks i can have (3) so atm i have no males a few females vt and ct and pk and 45 babies Vt x Ct living with my parents atm but when i move out will have many many tanks but i know a fair bit on betta genetics and other things so feel free to pm me if you have any questions about breeding and other things cheers ashley
  17. more information on rosetails at these two sites http://www.bettas4all.nl/viewtopic.php?t=949 http://www.bettas4all.nl/viewtopic.php?t=67
  18. hey everyone for the past 3 years i have been reading up on siamese fighter genetics (i have a great exciting life) these fish are considered EXTREME ROSETAILS they are bad fish so to speak and should not be bred from half sun's are HM x CT they have a 180 degree spread and less than 33% reduced webbing on all 3 fins rosetails are excessively branched Hm's bred from Hm's with excessive rays in their fins extreme rosetails and from breeding rosetails together, these fish have extreme trouble swimming and should never be bred from rosetails should only be bred to a Hm with less rays, such as a ROSETAIL x Hm with 4rays NOT rosetail x rosetail, rosetail x extreme rosetail, or rosetail x Hm with 12rays cheers ashley
  19. i know of many people who have done this or have taken some of the nest from the good builder and put it into the spawning tank to get the breeding male started
  20. couch chocolate milk or banana milk?
  21. true but breeding a PK to a VT will not change the gene pool anyway because a PK is a throw back from VT's anyway
  22. oh shelldwellers looked like fun i might go back to rams, ive had them before and they are lovely fish
  23. hey everyone im wanting to try some cichlids i have 60L tank and wanting to know what would be suitable? and how to set it up? i would like to try a couple of small shelldwellers or something like that i dont mind only having a couple of fish in the tank cheers for your help ashley
