I am currently looking for one of these and the only shop locally that had a sign up for them showed a pic of a SAE and it was called a Siamese Flying Fox, sooooo confusing! They had no stock any way *sigh*

Are they ok with just one or are they a schooling (sp) fish? I don't think I have room for any more fish and I may have to get rid of some one in order to get them

I have a golden coloured female and she never gets a really dark gravid spot, it looks orangey and gets a few little spots when she is about to pop but nothing like the darker coloured female I have

The one in the pic is my one and only baby lol The female I bought was obviously in a family way when I bought her and only that one survived in the community tank I was looking for a male but all the blue ones available up here were very young

Thanks guys I have always just missed it before too rollergirl Yep Caryl, so far this girl has been a month apart consistantly so it makes it easier to decide when she will have them My other female however is a different story, she has been looking ready to drop for about 3 weeks LOL and still nothing :-?

Last night I moved one of my mama guppies in to the fry tank because I thought she was due to pop, she hadn't even been there 10 minutes and she was popping out fry I sat and watched the whole lot, unfortunately the kids were in bed so they missed it but I thought it was pretty cool :bounce:

I never add other water to my tank, I do float the bags though and I have never had a loss straight after purchase. I just float the bag for a while then add a bit of my tank water and float for longer then I catch the new addition with a net and put it in the tank. Even though I trust my LFS ya just never know what is in the water when they get stuff from so many different places. I was very surprised to see the woman at the LFS tip water from my tank in to theirs when I returned something though. I have visited another FS and had the person talk total crap to me though lol the tanks looked like crud too, won't be going back there

Cool thanks guys Will just leave them to fend for themselves There are about 50 baby snails in there too lol so if they get too hungry I am sure they will start eating them and they are also some floating plants they can munch on

I am going away for a few days and I have a tank with month old guppie fry that I am still feeding several times a day. My question is, Are the holiday feeding blocks you can buy any good? I have never used these before and am not too sure whether to trust them or not. It is really only 1 day that they will be with out any food as I will feed them the the morning when I leave and will be away 2 nights and can feed them the day I get back. Any suggestions greatly appreciated Thanks Bedazzled

Did you have trouble acclimatising them or just dump them in since they were meant to be feeders?

Unfortunately I don't have a cold water tank and I don't see myself getting one in the near future I might just leave it for now and think about it again when the weather is warmer

oh! Maybe I should wait til summer to try this little experiment then The other tank I have is warmer (fry tank) and I have no spare heater at the moment

Mine sits at around 24-25 so I might just go and catch a couple and try them lol not looking foward to getting in the river though, will be freezing!!

I have noticed while I have been perving at pics online of tanks overseas that quite a few of them have shrimps in them. Do we get fresh water shrimps in waterways here? I think we do... Would they be able to be acclimatised to a tropical set up or would it be too warm? Thanks
