a ae101 manual with silvertop 4age standard everything bar lowered and on some 15" stilettoes, scored it for $500, best 500 ive ever spend rediculously cheap to run and reliable as. plus love how quiet the exhaust is. its looks rough as but runs like a dream, handles well and has quite good power, just my daily, havnt spent a cent on it except oil n gas. ive got my good car, 5efte (1500) gt starlet which im building into a track car

define responsible my "boy racer" car is not road legal at the moment (just installing new clutch setup to handle extra power) so will just be in my crusty 4age trueno, i like the cruzes etc end meeting up with people to talk cars and there seems to be alot of eye candy around aswell but so over the munters that ruin it and give the rest of us car enthusiests a bad name. Will find out night life for myself i guess, so over the days of consuming vast ammounts of alcohol mixed with various substances, like to think ive grown out of those sillier days. mainly like the live rock/metal bands that some bars have, we have nothing like that in whakatane, 3 clubs that all play the same music that isnt really my taste as for what i like doing, the outdoors, shooting fishing relaxing. random missions really. plus im on holiday so im keen to try anything once within reason

anyone here clued up with contracts/law etc
paul_r replied to paul_r's topic in The Off Topic Fishroom
organiser cancelled independantly. she had over 30 people interested in racing but for whatever reason only 6 had paid up by the time the deposit for taupo track was due on 20 aug (this date was set by race track) had no money herself (aparantly) so could not afford to go through with the transaction, and had used the 6 entrants fees to go towards the deposit to taupo track from her. she cancelled, race track do not give refunds to deposits (this is 100% fair enough) in theory, organiser looses nothing, 6 people loose out on their $130 and get nothing in return will get everyone together and go from there, lawyer looks to be the way to go. off to citizens advice bureau(sp) to see where to get a lawyer from cheers again -

taupo racetrack has done nothing wrong what so ever, they are basically operating their business and no one has any problems with that. the problem is that organiser took 6 friends money which they paid to race, now the organiser cancelled the track day and will not refund money to friends. (basically friends paid good money to race, not for a chance to race) organiser had signed documents with taupo racetrack, booking the 12 sept and although im not sure what it exactly was she signed but im assuming was something like she accepts liability to pay deposit in full, if full ammount is not paid by 12 sept track will be unavailable for racing. Organiser stated on many forums that there were no refunds, as some others have pointed out to me that this usually applies if someone cancels, or changes their mind etc and does not want to race Phoenix's questions 1. no organiser has no relation to taupo racetrack 2.she had signed a document with race track to book it, not sure exactly what it contained though 3.was possibly on kiwibiker, was on alot of forums, starletcentral, toyspeed, nzhondas etc heres a copy of her ad from starletcentral so yes no refunds was stated not sure how relevant this is to the situation the way i look at it you dont pay for a rugby ticket, and then not get a refund if the game does not go ahead not sure if friends have any foot to stand on to get their money back, my knowledge isnt enough to get anywhere really. 6 friends loosing $130 each = $780 bit of a pain for all concerned. would like to help them out if possible thanks heaps guys -

thanks alot for your advice so far she appears to be changing her story alot and seems like she is scared that she is dealing with switched on people. the last bit of contact from her. it does appear that the entry fees she received did go straight through to taupo racetrack so appears she has not tried to take any money herself etc however that stilll doesnt change the fact that 6 mates have paid $130 each to race and now cannot do so and so far cannot get their money back. cheers for the advice Barrie looks like a letter from a lawyer is next on the cards -
a while ago you may remember i was helping advertising a track day that was being run by someone at the race track in taupo. because of a number of reasons including a broken hand (unable to legally drive/race) i pretty much stopped having anything to do with it. basically they had booked the day 12 Sept, deposit of $xxxx.xx was due 20th(ish) Aug lots of people were interested, only 6 ended up paying their $130 each the 6 lots of $130 were each individually transferred into racetracks accounts and invoices were issued to the organiser as each transfer went through. as the due date came around and not enough people had paid the organiser cancelled and will not refund money to entrants as when organiser had advertised on forums about track day they stated "NO REFUNDS" i was not one of the 6 people that paid their ammounts so this does not affect me directly but some friends have lost out, and has left a sour taste in my mouth is there anything legally that the entrants can do to get their money back? been years since i done my law paper and this is definatly ringing bells that something is not right here. in my mind the liability should fall onto the organiser as they signed the contracts etc and entrants should get their money back. something to do with consumer gurantees act, or duty of care etc (sorry mind cannot remember exact terminology that i am looking for) anyone able to offer help or advice, let me know if more information is required cheers

front page msn.co.nz on a voting poll, "does smacking a child help with disciplin?" http://msn.co.nz/vote.aspx?v=2251&q= vote and check out the answer when i voted - YES - 3703 V NO - 839

when growing up i was smached and hit by belts, kettle cord, alcathene pipe etc. was never the first form of punishment etc to try stop me doing wrong, only the last until i grew old enough that a smack had no effect, wished i didnt laugh when being hit as was from then on made to milk the cows for doing wrong instead of getting hit. give me a whack with kettle cord any day didnt do me any harm, taught me respect and to be responsible for my actions. i am not violent, quite the opposite, i would not like to see how i turned out if i wasnt smacked. annoys me to see todays kids talking back to parents, getting away with anything they like, not caring about what concequences their actions may bring. "go sit in the corner for 15 minutes" no way that would have worked for me, what a joke parents being procecuted for teaching disciplin to their kids by way of a smack, i disagree with this 100%, beating your kids was already against the law, this new anti smacking law will not and hasnt stopped parents beating their kids. for those of you old(experienced) enough to get the cane at school, what effect did this have on you? have never had the answer to this id like to compare todays school against a school where the cane was in force

just throwing this out there as i play in whakatane/kawerau almost every second weekend depending on money situation. we sometimes have 10 people play, up to 150 at one stage. we play on mostly free fields (the bush mainly) bring own guns, paint, c02, gear etc. We are looking for more people to come and join us, we have some gear available for people to use if they dont have their own (would need to be organised beforehand) reasonably cheap to play, 40 bux max for 500 balls and enough gas to shoot them, can last for hours depending how trigger happy you are pm or reply if interested. also im interested and coming to play with other guys around the country, dont mind doing a bit of travel for a good game, im only really interested in the bushball style of playing. could bring a few mates to come and play aswell we have all our own gear etc

yeah what zev said... these companies are irritating, our clients see the ads on ird website etc and join up, effectivly changing their tax agent from us to tax refund company and mess up a heap of stuff ending up more of our time to link client back to our company as tax agent etc working out your tax at end of year is simple and ird website has all calculators. think most companies charge 12.5% or so of your refund and only charge if you get a refund. i do all my friends tax returns for free, takes a couple minutes and i charge em nothing its something everyone should learn to do themselves i think

Note: this is based on general tax rules, each persons situation may be different. Do not take as gospel this only what i know and what we go by at work yardie yardie ya all that disclaimer stuff

wage/salary basically same diff its income that gets taxed at source. Havnt worked with bonuses much but pretty certain that gets PAYE deducted from it, some bonuses are tax free (pretty hard to sum up everything quickly) IRD will not follow up tiny ammounts owing by individuals. If you have not been sent a tax return to fill in from the IRD you do not have to file a tax return (if your just on wage/salary) there are rules on IRD website weather you have to file a return or not. since i left school i have worked out i owe silly ammounts under $20 per year and just dont bother fileing the return because: a. i dont have to b. im not gunna pay for something i dont have to pay for c. i have not been asked by IRD to fill in a tax return, 99.9% sure they wont ask me to but if they do i can tell them i am on wage/salary only with no interest, dividends etc therefore not required to

im an accountant, this happens all the time, small ammounts payable each year from individuals only earning wage income. basically to do with the IRD rates which employers deduct your PAYE. Its not an error. If you are an individual with only wage income you do not have to file a tax return, sometimes u may get a small refund, sometimes you may have to pay a small ammount. Dont file tax return if you are doing a voluntary tax return and it shows up you owe a small ammount of money, the IRD will not follow it up. (of course there are many factors as to weather you have to file a return or not, dont feel like covering those reasons right now )
