  1. For conch to plant to look nice.
  2. Looks exactly like what I had in mind for my Mandarin support system
  3. Err... I don't know - I used to have some that I got from John... I don't really know what it is, other than red...
  4. So, does anyone have any of that red seaweed that has been around some Christchurch tanks? I would like a bit - anyone want to sell / swap something?
  5. Maybe we should weave it into windmills too
  6. Well, I gave it a tap with the glass cleaner, and low and behold, those little balls seem to have a slot in them - maybe they are shells forming?

I have removed the sponge, and use the chamber for charcoal (in a bag).
  8. Ammonia is invisible - white cloud usually equals bacterial bloom.
  9. I've got two of one type, and four of another, so who knows what they have been up to. The ones with the gold ring lay eggs in a kind of jelly, but this type I don't know much about.
  10. So, does anyone know what these are? Worth seperating out?
  11. It is a very long way to drive for poor service
  12. Seriously! Where do you get that kind of thing? Care to go clean up your driveway and send then to me?

They are suprising hard to come by. John may be able to find a few for you (give him a ring tomorrow)
  14. Here is the tank formerly known as my RSM sump. I've converted it into my 'Sea Hare - O - Rama'. I thought I'd stick some dead acro skeletons on top - does anyone have any?
  15. So what is my Cowrie sitting on? Its been sitting in the same spot for days. Might these be little Cowries? Sorry the pic is a bit ordinary, but it has chosen the bottom back corner, of course :-?

Yep, don't forget that it is performing a function for you - it is using up nutrients you don't want in the water when corals go in, so just let it grow and then harvest it (pull it off with your fingers). Other than that, just wait.
  17. Because they are small, there is a proportionately smaller margin for error, and marine already has a tiny margin for error as it is. They are also far more complex than freshwater, so there is more to go wrong as well. They really are not a great idea unless you know exactly what you are doing.
  18. One more post and Zev gets a fifth star!
  19. In a word, yes. Little marine tanks require expert knowledge and a great deal of maintenance in return for a very small amount of enjoyment.
  20. So, can I 'frag' a mushroom by chopping it off through the base (rather than chipping it off? I have one that is getting too big, but I can't chip it off the tiny pice of rock it is on without collateral damage - can I just cut it off? Will it survive my brutality? (ps, no fmxmatt, not the one for you!)
  21. Prey do tell (via PM if necessary)
  22. As far as I could tell they gave up a long time ago. They just hadn't realised themselves
  23. Not entirely - But I'm going to apply a new test to pretty much everything from now on - "Could I go to Canada and ride trails for three weeks without having to employ experts to look after my stuff when I'm away?" If the answer is no, I'm getting rid of it.
