Try insects direct i am sure he can provide the care level you require and is close -
Peat Fiber in a canister filter, driftwood in the tank, DIY CO2, Indian Almond Leaves, to name a few.

The mucus layer on the fish can go into overdrive if there are toxins in the water. I hate typing on my phone so shorter messages :oops:

Yes lack of airflow, i cut the middle of top out and glued mesh in. I usually put a folded sheet of newspaper on top of bran mix and the worms climb into it for easy collecting
