  1. are we speaking softly so the woman can't hear us
  2. nick the tank is outside and i am using naural sunlight for lighting i am hoping that being outside may correct their dropeye feeding live food from the top first then some dead stuff only time will tell could always put a cage of finches on top to make something to look at
  3. happy fish are breeding fish well done skippy
  4. link took awhile to get removed after poster was made aware that it was unfair and cpmments were posted before both threads were sanitised the link was posted by the person in question no one else no obfuscation of facts please in my view this was the straw that broke the camels back i have sat back and watched the silly assinine games that have been played on this forum by other forum members and bit my tongue, well half chewed it off actually i had a lot of respect for all involved but constant rubbing has worn that respect down
  5. the jar made the move with one split fin 1st aro no damage the next one, big girl snout and fin damage lars probably because he had already been moved that long before decided to do a big wiggle as he came past the tank top all have recovered nicely with some marks still remaining where scales got taken out
  6. swapped the giant gourami for an oscar as the giant was becoming a pain in the proverbial sorry about the pic quality

  9. hard to get a good pic of he is constantly moving tank is lit by natural sunlight
  10. yes bpspider they can be a real buzz and inspiration to some people i agree about the silly stirring matt, one upmansship, inserting links to another site and other niggly things are like the assinine games i played as a child now that i've grownup look what i've got it's a trumpet fay and it's made by tiptop
  11. thanks mark i had always looked upon this as a bad shed caused by too high a humidity corrected as you have outlined it is good to put a name to it
  12. no but picking out one quote to support an arguement is not enough, some of the other quotes i have saved point in another direction with the role of mod or admin on a public website comes the responsibility of acting in an appropriate manner this website is the public face of the Federation of New Zealand Aquarium Societies and as such needs to be a representation of all its members both young and old, and from all walks of life because of this there are societal standards to maintain and an executive to answer to a privately run website does not need to conform to the same standards and can be operated as the admin wishes the admin teams behaviour will be reflected in its members actions as like a family the parents set the standard not that long ago many members were upset at the way these forums were being administered and a lot of work and tears went into changing this to create a better place to be moderation has been relaxed a little but a standard needs to be maintained we all must be aware that though we consider something a prank others may not see it in the same light
  13. thanks for sharing that is an awesome tang tank
  14. still a rose ethics are still ethics and morals are still morals the basic tenets of a good society will still remain the same
  15. you should go into political spin doctoring a rose is still a rose
  16. our actions speak louder than our words
  17. didn't say anyone would vote because they were asked to, more about the ethics and thoughts behind the situation
  18. no but a lot of people believe the publicity campaigns some others just vote because they have been asked to as well or to garner favour you have always struck me as a person who supported fairplay as well smidey
  19. too many people in society doing things that are probably not cricket
  20. fish keeping is not a competitive sport the competition was set up for fun for those members who wanted to have a go at setting up a small tank much like the photo of the month comp that is run on here each month the photos are kept anonymous to create a level playing field for all involved the issue is not about wether or not it is competitive but about somebody using another aquatic keeping website to promote their tank photos in a competition on this site and blatantly soliciting that websites members to vote for the said photos it is not something i considered good sportsmanship and i was trying to find out how others felt about it i thought you might of been more concerned about fairplay than wether or not fish keeping is competitive
