  1. new fish shop is in browns bay, next to the RSL/RSA what ever it is. called Origin Aquatics http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/new-au ... 20661.html PUPUKE AQUARIUM is also awesome!!!
  2. to me  so what about T-# bulbs that only have one pin at each end? maybe a T-# is different than a T#... http://www.lightbulbplace.com/bulbID_DD.htm
  3. Your plants need CO2 to live and make oxygen for the fish. Its not that there isn't enough CO2 in the water, just that your plants want more. So the more plants you have the more CO2 you need.
  4. haha I live even closer to you than that ...but i dont know what i'm doing 8)
  5. delete double post. sorry
  6. looking at their reflection? how vain  my female fighter used to do it to
  7. the tank light on, the room light off, so the out side of the tank is totally dark. dont use the flash. And if your camera has present white balances (auto, daylight, cloudy, fluorescent and incandescent) just flick through them till one looks the best. and i have my camera setting to twilight portrait if there is a gap between top of the water and the lid of the tank, you may want to try cover it, my camera seems to lens flare along that gap just took these on my phone to show the difference
  8. if it is a virus thing, there is medication for it, but your plants wont like it. 1 tablets for every 36L after 24hours water change then 1 tablet for every 36L...or something along those lines.
  9. Ok i just spent a bit of time watching all the fish and this is my theory That bubble nest (picture in other thread) was made by one or more of my gouramis...I have never seen my fighter blowing bubbles or anything. So cause one or more of them has made a nest, they are grumpy and attacking each other, as i just saw my smaller Orange/silver gourami mall my larger cobalt one in much the same spot as the wound on the 1st cobalt one. peoples thoughts? this still doesn;t explain the dark colouration under the two fish though
  10. like mine? must be that time of the month
  11. Well I flushed him down the toilet, then in the morning he was swimming in the bowl, so I took him out, and put him into a plastic container...but he jumped out while i was at work. Yes there is a male and female fighters. also peru panaque (i think  ) 1 Cobalt gourami, had 2 2 orange/silver gouramis 5 guppies + a fry 1 BN now the other cobalt blue one looks like its developing the same thing. on the cobalt blue one and one of silver/orange ones, has a dark colouration under its chin, and along the front of the fin, which runs along bottom of the fish...sorry i dont know the name of fish parts yet.
  12. cool, thanks for that.
  13. just before I send this guy to fishy heaven, is this an ulcer?
  14. Having no interest ATM of owning a SW tank, so I didn't really take in what i was reading but, i believe if you are using live rock, you need to leave the tank fish less for awhile (because of ich? or something), so you could always get a skimmer and then save for nemo and dory while your rock stuff settles. maybe someone else could confirm or deny
  15. The size and shape of a bulb is designated by a letter or letters followed by a number. The letter indicates the diameter of the bulb in eighths of an inch. For example, "T-12" indicates a tubular shaped bulb having a diameter of 12/8
  16. Cool, they are chips I have not tablets I'll try feeding him while the lights are off. Now another question, my bn used to be really active swimming around the glass and cleaning all my plants, and "hiding" in a cave at the front of the tank, where it could be seen, but I tried to catch him/her to try and sex him/her, I failed to catch it, and its been hiding ever since  will it eventually venture back out during the day?
  17. Cheers guys. wow 31 water must evaporate rather fast.

    BN Water Temp

I want to increase my water temp from 25 to 27 degrees. I have found info supporting this change in temp for all my fish accept my BN. Will my BN be alright in 27 degree water? Also my 4 gourami's insist on eating all my BN's pleco tablets, can I do anything to manage this problem? Thanks -Andrew-
  19. I'm not setting out to breed them, if any survive then good on them, how long do I have to get another female. At the moment he is still ignoring her.
  20. um a pair of fighters, and 4 male gouramies (if these make bubble nests)
  21. If its possible to tell, could someone please tell me if these bubbles are being caused by one of my fish.
