  1. yeah david you need to get some pics up, ive changed my set up to be as close to yours and straight away started having success! I should have taken some pics when I visited, think I was to busy taking everything in
  2. Ive got two snakenecks in with some reeves, all around 1 year old, they spent last summer in an outdoor pond feeding on minnows and loved it, they are inside for winter, I think up here they can go outside around 3-4 years old, I feed them on bloodworms and pellets when they are inside. Dont believe the common belief that they dont bask until older, mine are always out spread eagled enjoying the heat lamps
  3. never thought of using a fridge! do you open the top door completely or is there another way of getting them out without them all jumping out when you open it up.
  4. I get mine through precious pet supplies, they get them from bio supplies though. slightly better pricing than buying off bio supplies direct. get them breeding, ive just had my first locust babies hatch today. ive been getting by with mealworms to fill the gaps in between buying and breeding.
  5. Also forgot to mention, also have a couple of young snakenecks in there as well, all have been getting along for around 6 months, was watching last night to see if the Reeves were still going at it and one of the Snakenecks had a go at one of the Reeves! Thinking of separating them all for a while or will they sort themselves out?
  6. sounds awesome :bounce: definately post pics, might make me actually start one i've been thinkin about for a while
  7. The two males took a hammering yesterday, both have slightly shorter tips now! What is a typical age for these to breed, I thought it was a bit older than these. all is calm as if nothing happened at the moment
  8. just caught my female reeves turtle playing tuck of war with a males tale, checked another male and see shes had a go at him to. until now they have all been fine, they are just over a year old. anyone else had this happen?
  9. cool background! Nice looking beardie too.
  10. Thats gutting, I lost all my mice when I was young to my sisters cat, she got around 30 of them. I've got no cats now but plenty of reptiles!
  11. Yeah i've got all that, really want to see some setups first hand and find out what works best so I do it right first time.
  12. what about a hard clay surface with rocks? Mark those pics just make me want bigger enclosures! stop it!
  13. are beardies ok outside in summer? what months, now your giving me new ideas, oh dear new outside enclosures! :bounce:
  14. beardies outside? I thought you had your tortoise in there, awesome enclosure though
  15. I'm sure i'll be down again soon, hopefully with a bit more time.
  16. Hi, anyone around Auckland that are keeping native skinks, gecko. I am a member of the NZ herp society and am trying to find someone that can show me the best way to set up for keeping them, i've almost got all the material I need but want more ideas on the enclosures and husbandry, want to get going soon so I can get my first permit, any help would be appreciated.
  17. I know some of you guys keep quite a few dragons and i'm sure its easier with turf etc but once the dragons are old enough isn't it better to get as close to natural as possible, I can't think of anything better than a large realistic looking enclosure for reptles/amphilpians that comes as close to the real thing as possible.
  18. wow check out the silkback dragons in the upcoming projects part of the website, looks a bit weird
  19. Mark, thats a bummer about your turtles, keep doing what you're doing, I visited you earlier this year while down there for work and your trust in chatting with me was greatly appreciated and gave me hope of meeting more people like yourself, since then I've got into beardies as well as my turtles and am loving it! Might be down again next week so might catch you again then. Thanks Chris
  20. ooooh if only we were allowed Double Post Removed. Mod Bill.
  21. I got 3x green and golden frogs off trade me a couple of weeks ago around 3cm long, they are in a 4ft tank with 1/2 water 1/2 land with plants etc throughout, also a small filter in the water, always with flies for food, this morning I found one floating in the water dead, looks perfect just dead, any ideas what could cause this?
  22. doesnt look flash, maybe shedding, looks similiar to a couple I rescued that didnt have correct lighting, but they look completely different a year later! the pictures dont look like much light is on them and no heat on the basking area either
