However knowing where the staff at PP have had their training and what the owner has reportedly kept..would ask them for advice. You dont ask you dont get. 12. maybe it is the members area...havent looked in a while my suggested process for you is be a member of NZHS build cages ...you will need to do this as to secure permit you have to SHOW them your cages apply for permit...? on permit you can put as suggested sources...members of NZHS and give your membership number. Contact NZHS re area rep when you join so he can give you names of members with extra animals
  13. nope it is required to get a permit on the NZHS page there is a Canterbury area rep Phone hime and he will help...heaps
  14. So Fish Fingers....while this has been going on I hope you have been cycling that 5Ftr I would suggest a colony style tank Nice dark sand some rocks...plants or not depending on what you want to keep? There have ...between the pointed stick bits some good suggestions...mostly mine of course but others have contributed... Maybe you could go to an arro but you might be better looking at some nice Africans...tangs...Tropheus and Calvus about 20 and 10 would be a nice mix or Fronts? Then there is a mix of Haps...big colony of Proto's with some cats..or a single speices aulanocara tank with dolphins and cats and the like. Or you could use Mumbuna like yellows and zebras and Labeotrophus. Crikey a tank that size...salvani, Festivums or some nice severums or GT or Texas...My favs Chocolates...or Firemouths with Geophagus and fire eels and cats .................The Choice is endless If you were really keen ( fanatically stupid read that as, cause I NEVER have luck with these blardy fish) you could plant up and have a big school of discus or angels with some rams or the like...very nice display that way. Will these tanks be display ...or procreation tanks? HTH
  15. hmmm Texas Cichlid? Is that right? have just got myself a very nice juvi pair. waiting waiting waiting till they start to get some size...lol and I agree...I would own an arro...but it would have to be a nice one...so untill I can afford the 100k I will stick to my tanks of colour and personality ....and well you know...fish

  21. Navarre

    advice plz

Yup you are right you CAN keep em all together wanting to is another thing 2P has already said that they will not be kept together So 2P.... "Africans" come from a heap of places....lakes, rivers, swamps "Cichlids" come from the New World (Americas) or Old World (Africa) You have New World Cichlids ( Convicts) and Old World (yellows -lake & Red Jewels-River) Generally most people set a 6 ftr up as a habitat for cichlids of one region....hard to do sometimes here in the antipodes...but do able-as David R has suggested You can of course mix and match but be aware that some fish will not be in optimal conditions and this MAY lead to loss. or you MAY get away with it. Ask here and you will get mighty opinon ( that is why it is called a forum) pick what you think will work for you...and welcome
  22. hmmmm will get more uptodate photos in next week and go from there There are keepers here with Altos that are...more established. keeper of bloating fish included might be better to post than I
