You can do pipe thing but I never did. One thing to note however is that eels hunt and dig with their noses so if you have large or sharp substrate you run the risk of them damaging the nose part (probiscus?). if that happens well you can just about jelly the things. So if you are going to set up a specific tank IMHO you should use small fine gravel that is rounded and deep...say 6-10 cm. Also be carefull when vaxing tank not to crush the eels. I had largeish root style lumps of stumps on the subsrate surface and found the eels would curl around them...little eniromental enriching...lol HTH Navarre

Just one of those things that work for one and not another. Find a couple as small as possible that are in the same tank in the lfs and go from there. watch as they change shape and colour up and become hand feedable. make sure one doesnt doninate others. There was a chap down this way that had several in a hex tank in his lounge ...was years ago...he might still have them like that but was no worries to his fire eels. HTH Navarre

Thanks for the ups...lol...was no problem spoon. I have the same problem with my big hunks of Oamaru stone but I try not to move it to often. The RUGF might be my fault I have it in one of my tanks as a experiment and it works well....but I dont really have diggers in that tank. It does work with diggers if it is just under your bigger rocks but then surface area of rocks on filter can cause issues as well I also have my spray bar in the 6x2x2 on the gravel and under my rockwork. angled up and out. This pushes any detrius to the front and into the water where it is filtered out or easier for me to vax. Current over rocks also encourages algae I think for young uns. HTH Navarre

That by working in a partnership with Maori/Pakeha culture as described in the governing and founding document of modern Nz you gain an understanding and a perspective of a culture that is not your own. This in turn allows you to work with many different cultures in a much more profound and empathetic way. Influenceing both personal and professional interactions that promote growth harmony and understanding. Or in Business terms...If you know how they think and work..you know how to make maximun profit LOL Navarre -
erythromycin will and does kill some plants as well tho so be carefull with that. Nav

Yes I crate train all my guys from 6 weeks. I do this for several reasons. It makes it way easy for me. It makes it very easy to house train. Also as I breed to improve to the standard I make sure that I have quality dogs BUT most dogs go on to be someones loved family pet so it is good if dogs have a place that is theirs. When a pup goes in to its crate its like " down time" also means you can crate your dogs if you have non doggy people around or you need to restrict it for any reason. In saying that I never crate to punish, only to withdraw. I have 8 runs that they go in to sleep at at night. These are concrete and mesh with a "house" and a drain and water. No toys in the runs. They are not there to play. I can highly reommend crate training. However it is what works for you. Each dog is an individual and needs to be treated as such..in saying that all the individuals are there on my terms...lol. does that help? Nav

nope when a gas in in solution evaporates it is called boiling when solution is blood and gass boils it forms bubbles. Bubbles form under skin where blood pools or at highest point, Brain or at top of sternum in people, fins and body of fish and in gut. Bubbles cause all sorts of problems (decompression illness) from surgical emphysema to pins and needles to death. When this happens under water the common name for it is "bends" If the tank has had a sudden O2 depletion, temp change or chemical alteration it changes the viscosity of the solution (blood) or the gas concentration in the blood. This causes the "bends". This looks like bubbles under the skin. So resolve chemical imbalance (water test and adjust) resolve Temp issues (in this case maybe raise temp as this will drive O2 out of water and draw gas from in fish out of fish) or resolve gas depletionin water( I know the last two contridct them selves but you treat the cause not the symptom, Thank you Dr Frank N Furter) Anyway HTH Navarre

Cant you put calcium source in a long thin pipe standing on its end. Buble CO2 thru teh pipe as you pass water up its lenght and back to tank. Slows bio film developement and supplies calcium and CO2 to tank. Just change media every few years as levels drop off. Dont the salts do this for the reef growth..its called a calcium reactor. Can use all sorts of media Navarre

Or instead of using Hydrogen Peroxide you could just airate your tank for a month and see how it goes? If it is Beard alge then small amount direct to alge rather than plants. Or over there VM youcould use rain water instead of teh stuff that comes out of taps or if you are on atank check for no dead possums or sheep in the creek (been there done that...lol, mine was soot from potbelly stove lands on roof then rain washed into tank...lol) HTH Navarre

Well done Caryl this is commonly called "The Bends" LOL Navarre

IMHO there is some kaka being spoken here. With teh current anti dog societal views currently expressed itis dangerous to follow bad advice especially with a GSD Do Not exercise your dog at night. especially if you leave them at home in the day while you work. Do Not exercise a puppy...no matter what breed until their growth plates have fused...this is age dependant for many breeds. Dogs are territorial and pack based. They dont bark when you are home cause you are the leader and TCB. When you are not there they have to step up so that is why they bark. Size of section is relevant but not that much. Exercise your dog in the morning. Feed main meal in the morning. Dog has needs met and will sleep during day. Be settled at night when you are there to TCB. Put a toy down when you leave for the day and pick it up when you get home. Use different toys for different days. Do not use the toys you use to train with. Always have water down and dont feed until after exercise. Routine is esential as is knowing their place. Another dog IS NOT the answer And for those that dont know I run 12 boxers boston and bull terriers all in show condition as a pack on a couple of acres. HTH Navarre

What temp is tank at? Some times turning up the tank temp can help with bloat and the like so might help with bubbles as well Navarre

Thats a good point smidey, I use "gravel" rather than fine sand 3 mmm or bigger usually. Sand goes ..well...for africa...when they are on the move Try something that Redwoods has called Marine mix..about $10 a bag from memory Good size and a good buffering agent. Navarre

Rocks..well I just brought some big chunks of oamaru stone (dolomite I think) beat the hell out of it and placed all the fractured stuff in my tanks. You can use slate as well as it is easy to handle and stack, Most of my guys are just in tap water but to get them really going I alter pH etc. HTH Navarre Oh and MTS...it does help Lmao

Also watch the new leaves on your lights. They might burn/ dry out And I would never prepose such a preposterous happenstance Alan. If one shall continue to follow such progressiveness one shall be enticed to suggest one is insinuating that ones very malesness is at question. (I mean I am a nurse discussing the propiagtion and flowering of plants...oh how I hope the boys in my rugby team dont find out) However....one does bow to your hitchikers guide like knowledge of all things plantish...(speaking of bisexual flowers)....an elf in a past life perhaps? And now back to skaffen...if proposed vista doth please thyn eye as much as mine then pray continue. But heed this advise as it is given from The Voice of all things plantish, it is gave in good faith and hopefull recieaved as such. Live Long and Prosper in a learned environ for a rose by any other name shall be still a rose And for those of you following this happenstance count the references in that prose for now looking at a his watch, I must be off for I am ever so late it must be said, and if I am late again twill be off with my head. Hi Ira drops pr ml or gtts (LOL) depends of the fluid(surface tension I guess) and the nozzle size they are being dropped from. Not all things are created the same Balance slowly acheaved (even if spelt wrong like) is better than balance in a hurry in the long term because we are talking about not having a "opening" in the system to take up the slack (so to speak). The only water movement will be generated by thermoconduction and fishes swimming. Water movement is what aids gaseous exchange at the surface, thats one reason you take water out of the system in a filter and put it back again and why airstones dont contribute that much to oxygenation in the water thermoclines until near the top where the agitation of the surface has been increased. So my advice set your tank up. Plant it, landscape it, heat it, let it settle, add 1 or 2 fish for your enjoyment. forget about the marketing gimicks. enjoy it

But at least not Thrice. Might it be a preponderance to ask one to describe the general conditions of such a leafy edifice. One may impose oneself and ask for a photograhpic representation but one does have troubles viewing such conflagerations at this propensity. Yours in all good faith Sirs Navarre Esq.
