  1. My understanding is it's the supply that defines what the appliance is. In this case a washing machine is classed as a single phase device. What goes on inside the equipment is not important. You can have any multi-phase thing you like going on inside the equipment and still treat it as a single phase device outside. A smartdrive would only generate high voltage during deceleration when the AC drive is regenerating. Our AC drives and inverters can go to 850-900VDC during regen with a little bit more oomph behind them as well...
  2. Please don't discuss this issue - it will only lead to speculation. All you need to know is he broke the site guidelines again and is now suffering the consequence.
  3. It's Takashi Amano from Aqua Design Amano, probably the worlds leader in Nature Aquariums. Look up Aqua Design Amano or ADA on Google...
  4. Use a heatpump. There's a very good range of high conversion rate heatpumps available for pools. You may have to use a heat exchanger as well to isolate the pond/tank water from the metal used in the heatpump. Not the cheapest solution to setup but the payback in saved power is likely to only be 2 years.
  5. You do, but kids look at your PC when you've left it for a while. More than one of our members has said this happens in the past and on some occasions posts were even made by the kids that the parents knew nothing about... You also do not have to be a member of the site to view most of it's content as a guest. No age limit applies to this...
  6. Hi All, Sadly the Gisborne Trip has been cancelled. Only three people showed any interest in going, one who would like a lift and another two who are staying elsewhere at a friends house so wouldn't have been part of the main travelling group. As such the trip is not viable. I am a little disappointed only three other people from the HBAS bothered to let me know one way or another.
  7. I used to use rainwater but found it to be far too variable to be any use. It had wildly swing pH (but not as high as yours) and would change it's characteristic depending on which way the wind was blowing when it rained. Rain can be quite dirty - by that I mean have many dissolved chemicals in it from industrial pollutants. Maybe wait until it rains next and see if the next water is better. Of course, where you live there may not be airborne contaminants. Looks for some reason for it to change. How far are you from the nearest city or industry of any kind???
  8. Thanks Jim, My grizzle was not actually aimed at non-HBAS people...
  9. Yes, you would think so but so far it's only been you and two other's who have responded. Thanks by the way, it's nice to know there's at least three who care enough...
  10. It would be if anyone was going... Have not heard from anyone who actually wants to go yet. A couple of people have called or emailed to say they can't go but that's it... Cut-off date is Friday 8th!
  11. Clarification: http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/tradem ... 20420.html
  12. TELL ME YOUR SECRET - NOW!!!!!! please. 8)
  13. I'm going again in two weeks. No humidity problem at the moment, it's a lovely -10'C most of the time and very dry. Summer is a real problem though, 25'C / 95% humidity feels like 33'C+ here. When it goes to 35'C+ it's unbearable.
  14. Everything is combinations of different chemicals... If you're going to use any additive in any situation, whatever you are adding is made from chemicals. It's very important to know what you are putting into things - food is a good example... I wouldn't pay the bill or at least offset it by the cost of replacing the fish. You did your part prior to the work taking place and they stuffed up...
  15. Look it up in the phone book or go to www.whitepages.co.nz look for Gold Fish Pagoda. Do the legwork...
  16. And generate just as much or more heat for the same intensity based off the above figures.
  17. Hi All, The Hawkes Bay Aquarium Society wishes to offer all financial FNZAS club members the opportunity to come with us to visit Gary Boyer and Aquagold goldfish farm in the Gisborne area on the weekend of the 16th and 17th of Feb. We expect people coming from outside the Hawkes Bay area will likely carry on with the group using the cars they travelled to Napier in. However, if you are interested in travelling by van (if we get the numbers) we may be able to fit you in if we are short and you really want to travel with us. The plan: Saturday 16th Feb: 09:00 Depart from the National Aquarium 11:30 - 12:00 Arrive in Gisborne and visit Gary Boyer. 13:00 Lunch 14:30 Depart Gisborne 15:30 Arrive at Aquagold 17:30 Dinner at Aquagold / Motor Camp 20:00 Retire for the evening to the motor camp. 10:00 Depart the motor camp 12:00 Lunch 15:00 Arrive at the National Aquarium Costs: Vehicle costs (ex Napier) will depend on numbers. If we get 12 we can take a mini-van at a cost of $25 per person plus the cost of fuel. If there are not enough people to fill a van then we will have to take personal vehicles. If you wish to go and will offer you car to take others, please indicate so in you reply. Item-------------------Adult-----------Child Rental Van---------$25--------------$25 Fuel (rental van)---$6--------------$6 Car Fuel-------------$30-------------$30 (based on 4 people per car) Cabins---------------$20-------------$10 Tent Site------------$10-------------$5 Dinner----------------$10-------------$5 Aquagold is organising the dinner and activities for all who go. Aquagold will also allow us to catch our own fish and will offer the caught fish at very good prices to those who wish to buy them. A limited pick-up service will be available if a number mean we can take a van. If we take personal vehicles I will be able to put people in touch with each other to arrange who goes with who and what the costs will be. This promises to be a very interesting trip. Gary has a very extensive fish-room and Aquagold is enormous!! You'll kick yourself if you miss it. Please contact me at (use my email button at the bottom of this post) or call on 06 845 2512 or 021 410 479 if you are interested in going. We need to know definite numbers by Friday 8th Feb please.
  18. Have you ever met bud? Having seen him in action, I'm pretty sure, given 10 minutes or so, he would be quite capable of creating this particular office 'look' - (how's his soccer skills going?).
  19. Last time I visited it looked like this??? You must have tidied up just for me... Hows the office looking 8)
  20. The second link is probably only good for freshwater plant growth at best... Ask them what the K is...
  21. I think the first link for the SON lamps is no good as they are yellow/orange colour. They are extremely efficient however.
