  1. Really sorry about that, had a power cut in central auckland yesterday for about 30 minutes, lucky it came back quick though it did scare me.
  2. Are you sure your water is ok? Test for nitrate, ammonia and pH, also borneo suckers like some hiding places and a current in the tank, they won't like it if the water is perfectly still. Good idea to make sure the water parameters are ok before buying any, they are expensive to lose.
  3. Should be strong enough. Let's say you are having a party at your house very full of people, you can't really imagine any parts of the floor giving away. Realistically it will weight not 800Kg but more towards 900Kg, there's also the gravel and other things that go with it.
  4. What's your temperature right now? They should handle cold temperatures as they usually thrive at temperature of about 18.
  5. This is the size of my tank by the way. The 2010 can filter up to 160L maximum.
  6. I have a Eheim 2010, excellent filter does a very good job keep ing my nitrate at 0ppm, with the help of lots of plants. For 100L tank this filter will do the trick, getting an external might be a bit of a overkill.
  7. I'm thinking of getting one too, those albino rainbow sharks look pretty good, I've read they get aggressive with their own kind so only keep one at a time. Otherwise it will most likely get on fine with other fish.
  8. lack of nutrients? are there new leaves, if there are don't worry about it, remove the transparent ones. What's your lighting and do you use any fertilizers?
  9. Also just bought a nitrate test kit and tested my water, got 0ppm, can't complain about that.
  10. It might not be itch, it's just one tiny white spot on one of them, looked at my other fishes closely and none have it, according to this site, the white spot is flat against the fish, but I managed to look at it closely and its extruding from the skin, might be something that stuck on the skin? site is... http://www.nunnie.com/ick.html Chances are it's nothing and I'm being paranoid but just in case I've turned the heater up, everywhere I read says high temperature can get rid of it.
  11. Just had a 30 minutes power cut, scared the cr*p out of me, lucky it came back pretty quick, weather is pretty violent here in Auckland at the moment. They've been in my tank for 3 full days now, still sticking to the back of my tank during day time, one of them is mostly in the cave during the day, at night when I feed they all come out and grab their share, I'll try watch them more closely tonight. Still have a problem being shy, everytime I walk up to the tank they go hide in the back, but if I knee down and move slowly towards the tank they don't notice me and continues to do whatever it is they are doing.
  12. I've just noticed one tiny white spot on the back of one of my clown loaches, got them friday last week, could it be ich? I'm quite worried but I might just be paranoid. All 3 look very healthy though. Just turned the heater up a little, from 26 to 27, should I turn it up to 30 just to be on the safe side? Thanks
  13. I got 3 baby ones 2 weeks ago at approx 3cm. Just yesterday or the day before they were still very small, though they all have grown a little since I got them but today I just noticed one has suddenly become a lot bigger. I fed a piece of courgette on sunday and they've been eating it, could that have triggered this sudden growth? Anyway I'm happy they are growing and healthy in my tank.
  14. I don't recommend the red melon sword with your current lighting, I tried to have one before when my tank had a low 20W light and it died very quickly. E Osiris will be fine I think, since I upgrade my light to 2X 18W Arcadia bulbs my one has been growing very well, from when it had just 4 leaves with my old 20W light.
  15. I would wait another two days before adding the danios, chlorine will take a few days to evaporate completely. Java fern you have look awesome btw.
  16. It can handle plenty of community fish, for example - lots of neon tetras - some platties or swordtails - danios - guppies and many others there are the ones that will swim in the upper or middle level of you tank bottoms feeders you could have 3-4 clown loaches, a few bristlenose catfish (get them small) and a few cories.
  17. Test your thermometers, take them out, put it in your cold tap water or something, tap water should come out at about 10 degrees. Hummingbird has a point, if it's a faulty thermometer no point wasting your money on all the heaters. But very unlikely it's the faulty thermometers, never heard of a faulty thermometer, chances are even lower when you have two reading the same value.
  18. It sounds overcrowded already. I would say too many guppies, the pleco and clown loach will out grow the tank. Is the tank densely planted? I would advice against adding more fish. Cheers
  19. What's the surface area of your tank? (length and width on the bottom) That's more important than volume in litres, it looks like it's 180L because it's quite tall. The surface area will determine what and how many fish you can have, especially bottom feeders.
  20. I've noticed the smell to it's definitely not very nice, hope it didn't polute my water. Next time will rinse them, try to get as much water off them as possibe, feeding will be easier as well they won't drop in as just one cube, I can drop them in several places and they will sink instantly, the cube tend to flow with the current in my tank.
  21. When you rinse them, they will unfreeze, after rinsing them they will have tap water still on them and when I put that in my tank there will be a little chlorine in the water on the bloodworms. I've read that clown loaches are especially sensitive to chlorine. Or am I paranoid? The little bit of chlorine won't do any harm, will be the amount of chlorine in a droplet of water.
  22. Just dropped in a cube, but sadly only 1 of them (maybe 2, can't tell if it's the same one) got some to eat, the majority of it was eaten by my other fish. Next time I'll cut the cube into two pieces, drop one in the front and one in the back and see how it goes.
  23. yes it is normal, might be a little scared or stressed when they first go into a new tank.
  24. this is the first time actually, just got them yesterday. normally I feed all my other fishes at about 6pm everyday with flake food.
