  1. ok so it's not too small. you can put a decent number of fish in there, with some real plants will look real nice.
  2. lol having second thoughts now. are the ulcers contagious to other fish though?
  3. small tank? killies, cardinal or neon tetras.
  4. Ok so I should try a pair. Here's my list of fish by the way, take out the 5X lepoard danios though as they will be sold before I get my gouramis.
  5. Hi all I've just discovered the dwarf gouramis yesterday and found that they could be a great addition to my tank. Been doing some research on them but just want to make sure of a few things. Is it conventional to keep one pair in a tank? Two males do aggresive towards each other correct? if the tank isn't big enough. Or can I just keep one single male? Would he be happy without a female partner? Planning to sell my 5X lepoard danios and get dwarf gouramis instead, a male or a pair. Another question on the side, my biggest and fastest growing male bristlenose has a whiteish patch just in front of the top fin, sometimes it's whiter and sometimes not so white, is this normal? Cheers
  6. sweet. you not going to have any gravel in the tank?
  7. that would be a one hell of an OK!!! Happy?
  8. It seems that my fighter has settled very quickly then, was never afraid of my movement from the moment I put him in the tank. Some fish takes longer to settle than others, see how he goes tomorrow. BTW what colour is he?
  9. So guess my point is don't worry yet they might take a while to adjust. I definitely don't believe such beautiful fish should be housed in small containers.
  10. I got one big red fighter yesterday. At first he was hanging in one spot looking a bit lost, I left the house, few hours later in the afternoon I came back and he was swimming comfortably around the tank.
  11. Ammonia was clearly 0ppm this morning, so I went and bought a red male siamese fighter, shouldn't hurt to add just one fish, especially after I took away 16. Will add corys after 2 or 3 weeks time. The fighter seems to have settled in quickly, my god it's a great looking fish with long flowing fins and tail and a graceful swimmer. Weird about my clown loaches though, havn't been very active for the last week or so, before that they come out for a few hours from late afternoon but now they seems to be more active in the morning, when the tank is dark, not really interested in the food I'm feeding in the late afternoon like they use to be, hope they are alright.
  12. Firstly apple snails shouldn't anywhere near plants. As long as the water condition is clean and the tank is cycled, no need to clean from top to bottom, in fact if you do that you'll probably restart the cycling process.
  13. you could try cycling without fish, its faster anyway.
  14. I think you are best to go with an internal power filter for now. Undergravel filters create a lot of hassle with cleaning. When i first started with fish keeping I had an undergravel filter and replaced it within a week and changed to an Eheim power filter, was much more convinnient and does a very good job.
  15. The pleco chips is supposed to contain wood fibres. But I would have a piece of wood anyway, looks good in the tank and it's always there for the catfish to chew on.
  16. I took out the 16X white clouds yesterday morning as it has been sold. Tested my ammonia this morning and it was almost 0ppm. Now planning to slowly add 1X male betta, 4-5 corys and maybe a small group of siamese algae eaters (only when neccessary maybe won't add them at all).
  17. Require gravel? All fish tank should have gravel at least to make them look better. What do you mean driftwood with pokey holes? They definitely need driftwood to chew on.
  18. Try adding some airstones if you've got any. Some diseases in aquariums can make all the fish gasp for air, try googling freshwater fish diseases.
  19. Definitely think it's a swordtail now, has a light orange colour and seems to have gone bigger than it was yesterday, may not be the same one though.
  20. It's going to be very hard to catch I think. I think it hangs around under the driftwood most of the time, tried looking for it this morning but couldn't see it. It's current size won't fit in the WCMM or the neon tetras, can't fit most of the swordtails except two of the biggest ones, will fit in the clown loach's mouth and I'm most worried about that.
  21. With one of those would I have to catch the baby fish? thanks
  22. It can't fit in any other fish's mouths but it might still be harrassed and it will be pretty helpless at 1cm size. I'll say mainly watch the angels but otherwise they should be fine.
  23. Just saw tiny little baby fish swimming under the driftwood!!! Think it's a baby swordtail, the tail looks like it anyway, only about 3mm long at most. Sadly not much I can do for it right? I've got over 50 fish in my tank and it might get eaten?
