what odd about cories??

plants only use nitrites and convert that to nitrates, ammonia bacteria would of killed the fish, plants wouldnt have helped in the early stages.

adding new filters or cleaning filter material in water that wasnt from the tank can wipe out the bacteria colony in the filter(s) also doing a 100% water change can lose most of the beneficial bacteria. if you do a 100% water change you have to let the water settle for atleast 24hours before adding fish

real plants are too much of a hassle, and loaches usually swim around looking at things so aslong as theres a big bit of bogwood etc they'll swim in amongst it. atm im thinking of a big bodwood center peice, but i can seem to find anything big/cheap enough also thinking about putting my angels and 2 Green severums in the tank.

i always cheat the cycle process in new tanks by taking water from my big 8ft tank and one of the filters for a week. cycling takes too long otherwise. sorry to hear about the fish.

I picked up another tank yesterday and dont know how im going to set it up, Should i put my Clown loachs,Golden zebra loachs,Zebra loachs and YoYo loachs in there. Or should i put the 5x Geophagus B's in there and some of my other cichlids??? tank is 120L x 50H x 40W, so far all that is in there is alot of black gravel. and will be putting in a 1200L/ph interanl filter and 500L/ph internal filter with 1x 150w heater at each end. Note: i dont want to use real plants, except maybe java moss etc Any ideas/suggestions would be great

silk plants would be the best option if you have cichlids in the tank, make sure you arrange the tank before the piranhas go in
