  1. If I was you I would move the heaters so they hide behind the Driftwood Pieces and I would move the Whiter piece of driftwood further back and have it in a more vertical position. Get some java moss growing on it (and the other pieces) Sorted!!! (IMO of course!)
  2. got it going now- thanks everyone
  3. hey My new CF-1200 doesn't seem to be going. I filled it up with water with a funnel in the top bit. Screwed it back on, opened both in and out taps and turned it on. It seem to be making lots of "chug chug" noises like a motorboat but its not pulling any water... Any Suggestions?
  4. you don't need 250Watters on a 60 deep. I have 2x150's on my 55gallon tank and all my SPS are doing great in the top half of the tank. LPS and Softies generally don't need the bright lights SPS need. Skimmer would make your life easier
  5. I feed My FW tanks and Goldfish tank once daily 6 days a week (roughly). I feed my Reef twice or 3x a day, and my puffer gets fed once every 3-4 days (Worms )
  6. sounds cool. I'm doing a similar tank at the moment. 300L though
  7. yeah milet has it pretty down pat. PM me if you need any more info. And of course you can use ASW if you can't be botherend collecting NSW
  8. yeah- what Milit Said Puffers vary in Viciousness from Figure 8's, Brazilian puffers and Dwarf puffers which are able to be kept in Community tanks if you don't value the other fish highly, throught to ones like the Palamberg and finaly through to ones like the one I have (An Arrowhead) or the Mbu puffer which will hunt down and kill any fish you put in the tank. Finsishing off a full tank of community fish in a couple of nights if its hungry
  9. As I posted on the other site Jonahpup- you'll need to upgrade your lighting to either t5 of MH to keep an anemone.... (Oh and Wasp all your Corals are doing brilliantly thanks )
  10. Black mate... I paint most of the backs of my tanks plain black and reakon it looks awesome. Although my reef is a dark blue- it was like that when i bought it and I quite like it- not for a FW tank imo though. All Amano's tanks use black and all are stunning.
  11. Works for me.... i can't see what you are doing wrong....
  12. get a tank and put in separators so you only need one heater and filter or buy betta containers which hang on the side of a tank
  13. Half fill a bucket with dirt, then fill it to the top with water and you won't need to see my dirty water
  14. First part of tank build done- 2 Nice pieces of bogwood and 20kg of sand added Sand is a nice brown color-looks pretty cool but still waiting for the water to clear- I spent 2 hours washing the sand but still got really murky. I also painted the whole back black...
  15. Nothing, I didn't realise what it was until I had left. Then i clicked. It wasn't for sale though.
  16. I saw my first one today- HFF Mt. Roskill. Its in one of the small tanks opposite the Malawi tanks if you are interested
  17. I was thinking the same thing but I don't know if that will be a problem as most of my plants i selected are fern types etc, rather than stem plants. Maybe 2x30W bulbs?

    Silver Dollars

should be fine with the Barbs and Kribs. They are pretty shy fish
  19. Hey Guys I am finally gonna be setting up my 4ft Tank as a communty tank. The tank is 123Long, 40 front to back and 60 deep. (Just under 300L) The plan is to have low lighting and moderate water movement. So far I only have the tank and stand but I have big plans! I have been tossing up Malawi vs Community and Community won  The fish I want so far are: -4 discus (50mm?) -6 BN's or clown loaches (Unsure yet) -4 German blue rams -20 Tetra's. Glowlights (Can they handle the higher temps? Otherwise rummynoses ) -10 Corys (unsure of species) The plants I want are: -African fern -Anubias -Crypts -Lace Java fern -Christmas moss -Pygmy crypt Other stuff Filtration- AquaOne CF1200 (Good enough?) Substrate-Dalatons propogating and Sand(Dark) Bogwood-Lots! Background-Black Lighting- Single 120cm 30Watt flouro. CO2- DIY with diffuser Any comments? Too many fish?
  20. Drain the tank water into a big bin if you wanna keep it otherwise bin it. Scoop substrate out with dustpan have new cleaned substrate ready to go- easy! Otherwise change with the fish still in, changing a little bit at a time until its all done, it will make the water cloudy for a while but should be all good if you are not running under gravel filtration and as long as you wash the new gravel well
  21. Nothing much happening with my Tanks. My mum is being a real b***h at the moment about all the tanks in my room and wants me to sell my 350L tank I haven't yet setup but I don't want to. so I'm doing a big change around of tanks dispersing tanks around the house. The 4 foot will prob end up outside with Koura in... Dunno how good that will be but worth a try 8) Meanwhile my Suvatii will be moving into the hallway and my Axo's into another room. Thus she can't complain about the dampness of my bedroom when it only has 4 small tanks in it
