  1. hi & welcome from whangarei. i see your a possum hunter, i really enjoy getting rid of them.
  2. these guys are underground miners not english teachers, that probably takes more guts & motivation to work than any job that i can think of. now they have no job, 29 of their mates are dead & all some can say is they can't spell properly. good on you guys, if something as terrible happens to you can we mock you for your inabilities when you are doing what you can to feed your families?
  3. that jager is likely to be 10 years old or more, there have been a few of those floating around recently. I know a guy up here that has one, Sam sold one recently so there are a few working examples around & that must be great advertising for the quality of them. 8)
  4. for a 125L tank i would get a 150w which is way overkill but you won't have any temp issues. they are on TM for around $65 new.
  5. i am really impressed with the jagers, they are all i will buy but others like fluval will be good to i am sure. naturally they cost more but they last alot longer & keep the tank very close to the desired temp all the time.
  6. the jebos will fail, i had 6 of them now i have a few lying around for when i do big water cahnges & want to bring the temp up faster. all of my six got to the point where they got moisture in the & jammed on, i would look at replacing those before round two of fried fish happens.
  7. most or all heaters have a minimum water level, i keep the tops of my jagers that are short enough out of the water but that just keeps the top nice & clean not practical for my 300w which is nearly 2 foot long so it is horizontal at the bottom. get a good quality heater if you can, they save so much drama in the long run.
  8. that look like a drop damage to me so i don't think it will get any worse. patch away
  9. does anyone else think it looks like he is taking a leak in the corner?
  10. mixed tang tank fabulous idea! in my 2.0m tank i have T Dubs, T Moliro Firefox, alto comps & i plan to see how the shellies get on when mine get bigger. I will also consider leleupi, julies or brichardi to. I was surprised at what was available for a tang only tank.
  11. welcome there are others that have more experience with the gold ocellatus shellies but i am sure the 3 footer will be plenty big enough for them, i doubt you will need many to get a breeding pair & once that happens you will have more than you know what to do with if you choose to separate them from anything that can eat them.
  12. golf is my latest obsession, it is very addictive. Hunting possums is another sport/hobby i really enjoy.
  13. that may be because he is getting pushed around by another fish, it may be hiding from trouble.
  14. not until your mum wants to use it  at least she can't complain about the water not being full.

easy to get an army to do anything you want them to with technology like this....
  16. nice to hear you have some nice fish alan 8)
  17. If I remember correctly: H1.1 is borer only H1.2 is a borer & fungus treatment H3.1 is for decay treatment to protect against periodic wetting. H3.2 is for exposed timber not near the ground H4 is exposed & ground contact H5 is in ground
  18. unless you plan on getting H3.2 (CCA) treated timber the rest is a waste of time. H1.2 is for stopping borer & H3.2 is a wet treatment, i wouldn't & haven't bothered with 3.2.
  19. 2x4 & 2x3 are yankie terms, 70x45 & 90x45 are the terms of this century  the 90x45 may/will be cheaper than the 70x45 so buy the 90x45 & rip it down to 70x45 if you have to. that will save $ & you will have packing left over.
  20. this is the laminated tank you were "experimenting" with? the one that we thought it would go pear shaped?
  21. the idea is to get alot of fish in a group so the angry dominant male has a crowd to chase which spreads the aggression. with that many he has very few targets so killing the lot won't take long.
  22. also think about support of the panel you are drilling, if it is not lying down on a surface & you have to drill it top down in toward the centre of the tank i would gut a block of timber to support the panel in the middle if you get what i mean. this drilling is for the 600x300x300 tanks right?
  23. & a vid for youtube, you could call it "fish tank drilling FAIL"
