  1. ah. i think in asia most of the traffic is moving the same speed, the issue we have here i think are largely created by fats moving cars coming up behind slow moving bikes. it would be very difficult to have a collision if a bike was moving the same speed as you.
  2. i think the problem is quite straight forward. there are too many cars & roads are too narrow for them to be shred by cyclists as well. until the roads are wider this will continue happening. I keep hearing about the attitudes of drivers, i think that is rubbish. for some drivers it is but they will be the ones watching for cyclists, it the ones that aren't are the danger. it is simply the fact the delicate lycra clad cyclist is so soft & easily broken & simply cannot travel fast enough on a road to mix with the large metal vehicles. when you mix slow & fast there will always be collisions. ? don't you use youtube?
  3. it is odd, where you get it?
  4. how bout a pic showing the whole fish?
  5. IIRC henward is the man to talk to about exotic frogs
  6. but then you will get the 4x4 complaining
  7. as long as cyclists & motorists are sharing the road there will be collisions between them, unfortunately this will mean the cyclist will come off second best every time. that is the reality & cyclists need to accept that & either work with it or don't ride & run the risk.
  8. be careful we aren't teaching all of our young members bad words they don't already know, then we will be right in the crapper
  9. that must be the best test for a stand, a big quake.
  10. & if you don't want the central support, use a larger RHS as the support
  11. i would agree if they were holding alot more weight, there are also other stands built the same way with the same box section for 8x2.5x2.5 tanks. timber requires bracing, no doubting that as it is a soft material but steel welded together is so much stronger in the joins it is not necessary. when a stand twists the pivot or bend point is the joins typically, it would take alot more force than a tank to twist a stand like that. if you want to add bracing go ahead but it is just using more material & time than is required.
  12. the best thing about using steel is it is very strong so less material is needed, here is a stand for an 6x2x2 IIRC, as you can see there isn't much required.
  13. post that somewhere where you will see it when you are 25 plus, i guarantee you will realise the truth then.
  14. great advice! i chose not to become a motorcyclist as so many of my family have been so badly injured on them. My cousin lost a leg, my uncle is known as "fingers" in reference to the ones he lost by grinding them off on the road in a smash, he also lost all of the muscle from under his arm in one of many bike crashes & so many other injuries like broken jaws etc & these were in the days of riding the old nortons & trumpies. my old man also has damaged body parts from bike crashes, scars from a clutch lever & other stationary objects he was impailed on. i simply see it as not worth the risk, some of their crashes were their fault, others not but they are the ones lucky enough to live with the scars for the rest of their lives. others aren't that lucky, at least these guys get to talk about it who ever was in the wrong. when you have some driving experience & a few close calls or accidents you will also appreciate the responsibilities involved with driving & how hard it is to see people around corner or behind fences or the ones that are simply to short to be seen over the boot lid. but in the mean time just jump out of the way of a car reversing out of a driveway that hasn't seen you & you will have a happy day, if you don't then you will suffer the consequences but do let us know when this happens & how right you are & how the hospital food tastes, if you survive the incident it that is.
  15. i think that if cyclists continue to or more often move out into the lane the chance of being run over must increase hugely. two tons of metal at 100kmph versus 100kg of flesh & aluminium is never going to be a good result no matter what the laws are. the reality is there will always be mistakes which create collisions between people using the road, no matter who is right or wrong the weaker will pay.
  16. for any commercial wet areas i supplied joinery to they used vinyl & coved it up the walls to prevent it getting wet underneath. There are plenty of textured vinyls around now to reduce/remove the slipping hazard. it will just come down to cost.
  17. teamviewer logs into the other PC but then controls it as if you are at the keyboard yourself. it is very easy to use. i have no experience with what you need it to do either sorry, sounds like you need a server to achieve what you want to.
  18. personally i have had more bad experiences with cyclists than good on country roads. When i was living at gumtown rd which is off Three Mile Bush (a popular cycle road) the riders would tend to be closer to the centre of the lane than to the left, on two occasions two abreast & often heading up a section of the road that was quite steep for a cyclist & very windy. i had to follow these guys & girls for approx 800m as the road was to windy & had too many rises to see what traffic was coming toward me. that was really frustrating & in this situation the riders behaved as if they had every right to do so. I am not surprised that there have been dangerous situations or abuse toward them rightly or wrongly. Last week i was very nearly in a high speed head on collision, a lady in a station wagon came round a sweeping bend to find a cyclist in the centre of the lane heading in the same direction, she had no option but to go around him. I was heading in the opposite direction & was forced to brake very heavily & swerve out of the way partly onto the gravel verge & back onto the road to avoid the crash. Due to years of being a hoon & a heavily modified vehicle i was able to avoid it, if it was my wife driving i think there would have been a 90% of a head on. i don't know what the rules are regarding cyclists but due to him being in the centre of the lane the oncoming car had to be almost fully on my side of the road to go around him which created the situation.
  19. i'm not familiar with MYOB but they will need to log into the network from where ever they are. is the laptop referencing files on the C: or are they just needing to view/copy or paste? I use teamviewer to access my PC, for updating logs off site from networked info we use a mysql program.
  20. again, you need to advise the details so we/you can be accurate. it is the same as simply asking "how long is a piece of string?" are you after exact litres inside the tank or just overall volume?
  21. all of the answers are above but do we have all the info? Does it have lids? What thickness of glass? Any additional bracing? there are several variables to your question. to work out the litres exactly you need to determine the glass thickness, this thickness will also determine the empty & total weight. 1.0x0.5x0.5 volume: is 0.25m3/250L overall (outside of tank panels), for actual litres you will need to deduct the glass thickness.
  22. there seems to be a lot of issues between cyclists & motorists in the media & certainly some tragedies that have taken place. do we have any cyclists in our ranks that have had close calls?
  23. with africans i have found that generally means they aren't getting enough food.
