So if i have Gbas which are about 5cm in size with no bristles does that mean they are all girls, or just late bloomers?

we are despratly trying to find a red one down here but only finding plain old blues and purples.

just teset my ph and it is sitting at 7.8. So i guess its doing its job.

mosquito larvae are the little wriggly ones that you get in ponds and stagnent pools of water. Apparently fish like them to.

I was going for whatever i could that would naturally buffer the Ph. So its limestone rocks, and when i was at the landscape place thay had the pipes so i though thay would help make some caves. I also got a bag of limestone chip for my gravel. I was gonna get limestone sand but i thought it would probably cloud the water too much. I have 3 auratus, 3 kenyis and 3 kadangos. And im getting some zebras tonight.

Also another thing to keep in mind is that down here lots of places are accessed by stairs. It hasnt been fun getting my tanks up 50 odd steps that have a wonderful kink in the middle. You might just have to be extremely picky about houses. My bf says that we arent allowed to move now coz he doesnt wanna move the tanks again. :lol:

For some reason i dont like tetras but i reackon it would be cool to have heaps of rams!!!! That would be pretty.

Hey, its cool to see a new face. Why dont you introduce yourself un the welcome section? Im not sure about your question but my bettas will eat anything, apart from those betta pellets you can get. :lol: Ive you tried them on frozen blood worms. All my fish love them.

i have a problem with java fern as well. Its the only plant in my tank that looks sad. Mine goes all holey.

There is a landscape supplies place out in plimmerton and they have heaps of stuff and it is resonably priced, might be an idea to give them a try. Or else there is lake Taupo. :lol:

i spray painted the stand black and yeah grating is till, my bf thinks it looks cool. :lol: We are going to make a hood as well so it will look fab.

ive got 2 aqua ones and i havent had a problem with them, but they are on the cheaper end of the scale

Well i have got my tank setup now and today i got some babies!!! I am very exicted!!! Will post pics once i get a light!

depending on what you keep it with it doesnt and shouldnt be in the container. If you are uncertian about a fish try googling it and you can find some really good sites that have compatibility and requirements and stuff. I have a male and female who live happiliy in my community tank. No containers necessary. Just wact out for nippy fish or ones with long or colourful fins as this can lead to problems.

My boyfriend recently got a platy she has been fine for about a week but this morning she ws only using her two front fins. It seems she cant use her tail or anything other than her front two fins. I cant see any physical problems and the other fish are fine. Any ideas?

go to bunnings or mitre 10 mega. There are lead lights and other things thta can be modified cheaply -
we have already made a stand but it wasnt cheap enough. Anyways for an update i now have a stand from bunnings with one tank at mo and i just got a 4ft and stand.
