First time I played it, I manged to get cuba & madagascar but failed at.. a couple of other countries, can't remember what they were. It IS fun though!

Oh thats so horrible. I've seen the same thing at this LFS many times. I was wondering whether it was some sort of worm or parasite thing. Whatever it is, it makes me not want to buy anything from the tank thats for sure!

And I was looking in a tank of platys and saw something really disgusting. There was a silvertip tetra in there which had what looked like a transparent sac growing from under its eye. The eye itself was still attached but pushed out and down a bit from the socket. The transparent sac had a white wormlike thing inside it? Any ideas what this might have been??

*sigh* the fishy in question died last night. I think he was the victim of a severe bullying. I caught my betta giving him a couple of nudges last night. He also had a sizeable chunk taken out of his tail by culprits unknown. Several of the other platys also have chunks out of their tails. Either I'm underfeeding or I've got the male:female ratio very wrong. (I now think there was only one female to four males! )

tinytawnykitten, what is her name?? She's absolutely gorgeous. I hope they can remove it and she makes a full recovery. So much life left in her yet!! Fingers crossed for you!

No I can't tell the difference. And yes he/she is still doing it.. last I looked was yesterday though

Well, this is only my description of the event. I guess it could be flaring too.. he/she? does it when he/she? swims near the other platys in the tank.

Also, Bin Inn sells Epsom Salt, so that way you could get as much as you want..

Not sure if this should go here or in the disease section, but I noticed yesterday one of my blue platys displaying some rather odd behaviour. I think its a male but can't be 100% sure on that. Anyway, he/she is swimming around fine, then all of a sudden sort of, floats on his/her side and briefly has what looks like a seizure! Then the moment passes and he/she is back to swimming around normally. There is nothing abnormal that I can see, none of the other fish are doing it, he/she is eating and otherwise behaving normally. I'm wondering if this is perhaps platy mating behaviour?? Because I have seen other platys swim up beside him/her.. Any ideas?

I've seen stripes on my male fighter. I think he was a little stressed out at the time...

Haha I'm afraid my plants are no good, guarantee you wouldn't want them. Most of the plants I have have been chewed on by my bristlenoses. I found a picture of Sagittaria platyphylla and it looks very much like what I had, although it didn't grow that big. I wish my LFS used latin names.. hey, even the common names would be good. Their stuff isn't labelled.. hence why I end up not knowing what I have.

Years ago I had a plant growing in one of my tanks, I think its called Dwarf Chain something??? I got it from the LFS, but haven't been able to get any since. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and does anyone have any? I'm willing to pay for it!! Its a small low growing plant, sort of like a flax I guess, and it propogates by runners.

Interesting.. I enjoy all kinds of burger (except fish & chip shop burgers that have coleslaw in them -- ew!) but agree you can't beat a good homemade burger. I like making burgers at home with those Tegel Takeout chicken things, yes a little processed but add fresh tomatos, onions, lettuce, and its all good. McD's in Invers is shocking. My husband and I once waited 20 minutes in the drive through for our order. Silly me, i thought McDonalds was a "fast" food restaurant. I've also learned that Baby Macs (guess this would apply to Big Macs too) taste like crap without the sauce. I couldn't believe they forgot the sauce.

Ok so fish has been taken back to shop. The owner says that it isn't actually cotton mouth but the fish has cut his mouth on something. She was pretty adament that it wasn't cotton mouth as it wasn't fluffy (it looked kinda fluffy to me) but whatever. I'll take her word for it, at least it means I don't have to treat the tank.

So as discusguru said its hard to get rid of, so not much chance for this fella? But treating my tank should prevent of the others getting it?

I live in a small town, so both the supermarket and the shop are closed, closest supermarket that would still be open at this time of night is a good 40 minutes drive away. I don't have another tank available, can I just put him in like an icecream container? Even if I removed him and treated him while isolated I'm still going to have to treat the tank anyway because of the potential spreading of the disease right? Having troubles getting a good photo, the tank lights are blue and aren't the best for producing correct colour and clear photos. Might see if I can switch the bulbs with the old ones I have.

I don't eat fish. I don't like it. I had a pet vegetable once too...

I have platies, bristlenoses, a few tetras, a rainbow shark and couple of zebra loaches. Only salt i have is plain old table salt.
