  1. Henward - how many hatchlings did you get from that small female bd you were trying to breed? Good to know you pay tax on all your fish sales to (thats if you've even bred/sold any). Your an honourable man, just doing what he can, shame you dont see the bigger picture and seem to be all uptight about A certain person who you had a falling out with.
  2. Were any reptiles actually imported for private keepers back in the day?
  3. who cares who anyone is or isnt, dont think ive introduced myself yet either , im just glad none of you judge me before you actually know me . this is a public forum after all, anything said here should be said with that in mind.
  4. is that the Goat Island, out from Hahei beach? spent a few holidays there as a kid, never went diving unfortunately, snorkling was good though.
  5. Supply v demand is the main factor but not the only one that determines prices.
  6. Ok I'll be honest, this hobby has actually made me a very rich man........just not in terms of dollars.
  7. People that complain about prices really make me laugh. Often they're the one's who want to also make money out of it and or think people who breed reptiles are making a fortune lol. By the time they actually buy, what little money there was to be made is no longer there. Sometimes you have to actually spend money to make money. Not rocket science. For those who dont want to make a return, wait a few years then get your pet. No one's got a gun to your head, your money you choose. + NZ market is tiny, doesnt even compare in the slightest to the UK. On the other hand, if imports were aloud, prices likely will be more reasonable. Or maybe they wont, importers need to make a profit to.
  8. Cheers, that waterdragon was unreal. Shame I sold him really, hope to get another someday, when the time is right.
  9. Those frogs were here well and truly prior to 1995. Apparently there was even paper work for the iguanas that faced a similar fate a few years ago...how true that is I do not know.. hmmm I assume we can speak of frogs, theyre not reptile's but close enough
  10. I would love to see a list. Closest thing to a list that I've seen is on the NZHS website and thats not even worth looking at. Importing should be opened up again, just like fish, do a risk assessment on each species (or whatever they do) then just test for disease, quarantine etc. Would mean less demand for smuggling, less risk of disease. Even if you can do the above it would seem even then your not always safe. :-?
  11. Fair enough. But forget the personal issues, they can sort it out like men elsewhere. There's issues bigger than both of them. I'd just like to see a bit of thought go into the legal side of this hobby, otherwise what next...
  12. Oh come on, Henward was off the rictor scale, hope he got a warning at least. Other party pushed the limits yes, but atleast it made sense. From my eyes one party was looking for a 'reaction', the other merely responding, and rightfully so. There was actually some good discussion around Henwards muddled up posts. and no doubt some good discussion yet to be had. What a waste, yet another case of lock/delete the interesting thread that had some real meaning behind it.
  13. True, sounds like my trip to Palmy to look for mesh the other day. Could try maccas playground for those balls, if thats what your after lol Mico metals maybe, just looked at there website. I may try the mitre10 in Levin next time im down there....sometimes they have things mitre10 mega doesnt. Apparently the one in New Plymouth has it. Otherwise maybe an aluminium joiner like you mentioned. Thanks for asking at Hunting and fishing anyway. Saves me going in there
  14. i think were very lucky to get any tax cuts in the current times. Not sure why the govt bothered tbh but ill take it. Cheers John. atleast with the gst increase its the same for all of us. 2.5% is diddly squat, compare that to everything else we buy and its not that bad at all.
  15. No cats to worry about around here, just a pack of dogs Your a gem, cheers.
  16. actually like this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Sports/Fishing ... 650914.htm hmm maybe thats the same mesh as in the first link i gave. anyway thats the sorta thing im after
  17. Im not sure, based on whats on trademe i think its aluminium. All i know is its not the black fly screen stuff, its silver. Apparently stronger. possibly like this, http://www.trademe.co.nz/Sports/Fishing ... 377455.htm but i think you can get a finer mesh grade. That mesh has holes at 2.5mm apart. 16 to the sq/cm. Close to flyscreen.
  18. Cheers Zev, ill check that out. I actually drove past them the other day, thought to myself, i must go back and check there, then forgot got maccas and went home lol btw i want the wiremesh, not fabric if anyone is wondering....
  19. Sad how the current system or lack of is. I for one just want to persue my passion for breeding. But no one knows whats here legitimately and whats not. The rest of the world must laugh at us.
  20. Ill see what i can find in the morning, may have to get my ninja outfit out for that sort of covert meshin 8)
  21. stop writing books and use the quote function man. this party is getting messed up
