  1. Didn't he? Thanks to all who were involved in the building of such a great weekend. A great event with a great bunch of people. Looking forward to next year - wheres the reg forms, Caryl?
  2. Hi All, and thaks for your comments. He's a great fish, loves his little hiding place (unlike the hemisyno's who love attention) but when he comes out he looks spectacular. Would be keen for some more if anyone is looking to move one on.
  3. Tentatively yes. It's all in how they're braced.
  4. Assuming the tank has bracing on all four sides of the glass (ie strips along the edges of the glass at the top of the tank, if it's full it'll have a safety factor of 1.5 according to Warren's calculator. If you're like me and leave a 50mm gap at the top, the factor would be a shade under 1.9.
  5. Just got one the other day. Whats everyone elses experiences with them?
  6. Yep, we missed you Rogan The beastie we got is a synodontis vermiculatus. Cannot find a pic on the net, but is a syno wiuth yellow body and brown stripes. Is on P420 of the Axelrod book.
  7. Was great! Aside from driving for hours and hours Everybody came home with something unique. Sharron and I have a liking for synos, and found a real nice one that screamed "BUY ME" Sorry, no photos this time, no convenient roundabouts

    Hi

Hello and welcome to the forums Tania
  9. The Western bay club is planning a road trip to Auckland this saturday, to check out all the fantastic stores north of the bombays. If anybody local wants to tag along, we're leaving my house in brookfield at 8 am, and plan to be home by 8pm that night. If anybody in Auckland has some ideas of good stores to visit, let us know.
  10. Definitely possible. Everything is possible, it's just a question of engineering. With a span of 6' for the upper tank, I would be leaning towards steel, though you could do it with timber if it was thick enough I guess. And while you're talking about marine ply, alot of people underestimate the structural component of panels. The thicker the better, 12mm would be the thinnest I'd go.
  11. Gonna need a bit of filtering, 540L or so of tank you have there. I'd go big canister, or a couple of medium sized ones. Say an aquis 2400 or a pair of 1200s?
  12. Hello and welcome to the forum
  13. Hi Mark, Great to see you here. It's an awesome site with plenty of helpful people. If you're interested in the local fish club, give me a PM and we can catch up :-)
  14. Yep, 1w per litre, and no jebo or masterpet for me either.
  15. I've been trying to find a timetable for conference... In short, I want to know if it is possible to leave tga early sat morning and arrive there about 10 or eleven, saving a nights accomidation. Also, what happens on the Monday?
  16. IMO Yes, and I've bred thousands.
  17. Could be true for older units, but you would expect a brand new tap to have o-rings in it. Mine wasn't leaking from the o-ring at the join, but rather from where the tap shaft comes through the body of the tap.
  18. Yep, I had this too. Another tap would fix it, but the leak (on the suction side) is very minor and introduces only a small amount of air. I don't think it's a batch issue - I know of one bought more than a year ago and it had this problem, and the last one I bought had a similar problem. The filters themselves are great, but I guess the QC on the taps might be a bit out? New taps are only a couple of dollars tho. If you're buying one from a store (and of course paying the premium that they demand), make them include an extra tap in the price.
  19. Don't know of any in TGA, but I like the look of them.
  20. Yep, have a cf1200 and a cf1000. They're not bad. Have had no problems with them at all, and they come with everything you need to get started. You thinking of buying one?
  21. Hi Ian, and welcome to the forum. Nice pics - particularly like the handful.
  22. Are we able to pay for conference registration and accomidation by credit card? (had to ask... sure it will complicate somebodys life)
