  1. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: great photos of the growth
  2. Gave my babies a home on saturday before I had even got it fully into the tank they were in  I will move them all back to the display tank sometime this week
  3. He is rather gorgeous :bounce: Hope he recovers and doesnt get an infection.
  4. http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-07/totm/index.php Love his big orange M. capricornis
  5. Thanks Fay I think I was real lucky as my older Maroon was a gentle giant and the little fella is so young it doesn't know anything else.
  6. :bounce: :bounce: Stunning
  7. I'm very pleased they havn't killed each other :bounce: :bounce: They are taking little nips at each other that almost looks like kissing     might be a different thing though when I transfer them both back to the display tank Taking the big fella out of it's main enviroment may of made the difference. I was tempted to put the little fella in the display tank and just see how it goes, but if it hides under the rock it would of been a real heachache getting it out. I will keep you informed on how it goes, i'm not sure if I should leave them in the small tank for a couple of days or just over night. When your little fella gets over its fright you might want to try what I did JDM. Neutral ground for them both
  8. First photo of the pair together
  9. My maroons have had their introduction in the quaranteen tank The little fella went right up and started twitching its tail, the big fella wasn't worried about the whole thing. The little fella is very excited about having a friend, meanwhile the big fella just swimming arround as if nothing happened. :bounce: :bounce: As the little fella doesn't have full colour in its stripes it could be sexless and may change to Male, the big fella may turn to female if it's not already. 30 minutes after introduction and they are swimming together, with the little fella ocasionally rubbing up against the big fella :bounce: :bounce: fingers crossed 8) they don't attack each other.
  10. Gorgeous Fish :bounce: :bounce: From my own experience it's a wonderful feeling when the shy fish starting getting out more and even start eating from your fingers. They have their own little habits that make you smile aswell

Sorry to hear you lost her Fay I know I felt absolutely horrible when one my original perc clowns had their mate die. I have a black and white SB in my spare tank with no mate than you can have Fay, I am more interested in my Maroon clowns so have no need for it. It is a good tank mate for when I get new fish, the Naso and him/her were like best buddies in my quaranteen tank. But I need the MC gone so I can use the tank to pair up my Maroon.
  13. my little fella is swimming arround this morning so survived the trip from hastings, he is so tiny Once I get him a little fatter I will get another divider in the Q tank and try adding the other GSMC. If the little one starts getting beaten up too much I can just slide in the divider and seperate them. Let them get used to each other then try taking the divider out again and see how it goes. I may have to repeat this a few times. From the reading I have been doing at reef central the above method is similar to what they recommend. You may want to try this method JDM with your little fella. The dividers are cheap and you just cut them to the size of the small tank. I will keep you up to date on how it goes, if they don't pair up we can probly swap clowns and try again
  14. :bounce: :bounce: The little one arrived alive and kicking  Gorgeous little Gold stripe Maroon Clown probly only about 3.5cm long.
  15. Hey JDM My new little one is arriving today :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: , my partner is picking it up on his way back from wellington, hopefully the weather won't turn nasty and the Napier/Taupo road won't be closed. I't only a 3 hour drive from Hastings to Rotorua so I will be counting down the hours and minutes until the fish arrives. Hows your little one this morning ??
  16. Sorry to hear the little one has taken a beating
  17. Hey JDM I will let you know how I go with my pairing up aswell after the weekend. I'm toying with the idea of trying the pairing in the quaranteen tank, I have a divider that I can put in if they get too aggressive with each other. I know there possibly could be a rumble for top dog position, I just hope it doesnt get too bad. If my two don't pair up, and your 2 don't either, would you like to trade

  My Yellow Sailfin did that when he first got in the tank. He would try and swim up stream of the powerhead.......you could see it was hard work for him ................ puffing away and not going anywhere fast........take a rest then try again after awhile. The stream runs round the front now.............so he has learnt its not easy and only sits in the flow for a little while.

Has everyone watched the Finding Nemo Movie Do you remember the scenes in the dentists office and the Yellow tang plays with the bubbles coming out of the chest    We were testing our little pump that we use for the brine shrimp yesterday, had it in our quaranteen tank. My Naso Tang came to the front where the bubbles were and gave them a good hard look ........................ flicked his tail a few times at the bubbles  ..............thought to himself ....hmmmmmmmmm.... they don't hurt ............he played in them for a good 5 minutes  , took a break them came back and played some more :bounce: :bounce: Hes rather peeved this morning  ......... my partner has put the pump in his brine shrimp hatchery
  21.  Yeh i suppose they do need a day off I did some major shopping arround over the phone yesterday. Auckland............... no stock of the true Dark maroon Tauranga.............. no stock Wairarapa............. no stock Palmerston north.......no stock Wellington region ................ no stock and at one shop the lady didn't even understand what i was after and then i started having trouble understanding her aswell. Most of the shops gave me pretty good service over the phone ie: no stock at the moment or no we don't carry marine fish there were a couple who even offered to put me in their waiting list book. A guy in one of the shops in the wairarapa gave me the best service of them all, he put me onto a new shop in hastings part of a garden centre ............. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: they have one I will have my new baby this weekend
  22. I tried ringing them today, all i got was their fax machine. Gave up in the end.
  23. Large is not the word I would use................Huge is more like it. Nice big Nasa in the display aswell. I forgot to ask them what that other enormous fish is that's in the display tank aswell ............. does anyone here know ?
  24. Thanks JDM Yes they are one my favourite marine fishs, my current Maroon has so much character  The Depth of the colour she/he has also really sets the tank off.
