  1. I do hope something is going on, at this stage, I cant see clearly but I think both BNs are sharing a cave. The female usually leaves after laying her eggs right? Might go push the plants away and take a closer look.
  2. Is it common for both male and female to share a cave?
  3. Will do, I turned off the heater and am in the process off looking for a new one. Another thing, both BNs are now sharing the same cave. I assume nothing special is going on?
  4. Sweet as, heres hoping then. Also, my friend noticed that my heater has a crack in it. Will try to get a picture soon, but will this be dangerous for my fish?
  5. Grr, if thats the case I gotta find a new cave. Anyways, the hole in the driftwood is now occupied by the two of them, and I dont expect them to breed there because there are 2 entrances into it. Now it seems that my swordfish have taken a liking to it and are staying there. Everytime I take a look I see my big female looking back at me. Assuming the male BN wants the cave, should I expect the sword to be chased out?
  6. No, I mean like a bottle. Small entrance big inside. I also positioned the entrance away from the cave to give them some privacy. Fingers crossed!
  7. I dont want them to hide, I want them to breed! I selected a vase with a small entrance and a big cavern. Maybe the male is still not ready to breed with my girl? I'll start putting in cucumber each day and see what happens.
  8. I finally found a male BN, and a nice little vase for him. Now my original tank has a piece of driftwood in it, with a small crack thats big enough to fit my female. I put in the vase, and went through all the trouble of rearranging the plants (a LOT of work), adding some new stones after cleaning them and doing a small water change. When thats all and done with, I finally release him into the tank. The first thing he does is IGNORE the damned vase, and swim into the crack in the driftwood with the female! The nerve! Now, is he rejecting my vase or is he just happy to meet my female? If so, how happy and how many should I be expecting?
  9. A guy I bought some baby Tiger Barbs from told me that the best way is you put some plants at the bottom, and some netting. That way, when the Tiger Barbs spawn and leave their eggs in the plants they cant get to it and eat them.
  10. Great going, my dad and I were amazed when we saw your tank a few months back when we went to pick up some fish. Hopefully you get them to spawn.
  11. Is it actually possible to get some wild and breed them yourself in Chch or should I just buy a culture from someone else? Thanks.
  12. Already have that, its just I prefer to scatter food around the place. That way all fish get a chance to eat without the bigger or more aggressive ones eating all the food. As I said its just a convinience issue, just seems a pain. 8)
  13. Well, its really more of a convinience issue. The lid itself is made of glass, as I'm lazy to build a wooden one to put ontop of it. So everytime I open it up to feed the fish my hands, the side of the tank and the floor gets wet. Just trying to fix that.
  14. I dont dare to leave my lids opened, I'm quite afraid of my fish committing hara kiri from jumping out of the tank. Any other solutions?
  15. My 3 foot tank has a serious case of condensation. The heater is not even turned on at all! The lid and sides of the tank are totally soaked. Any way I can fix this? On a side note, I finally planted my tank today. Waterplantz on TradeMe has good deals, bought his starter pack for $20 and had more than enough plants.
  16. Thanks, I wasnt really looking for a pair when I purchased them. I highly doubt the Angels will be able to breed in a community tank anyways. I'll post pics in a few months and see how it goes. Thanks.
  17. Will do. I'll go check for some pots tomorrow. On a side note, I just bought 6 Tiger Barbs and 3 White/Black Angels. All of them are around 1.5cm to 2cm. What are the odds of the 3 Angels being a pair?
  18. So basically a bottle shaped cave would be ideal? Small entrance big lounge? Well not really bottle shaped but you get what I mean.
  19. An adult male BN. I want to go get a couple of pots and want to know whats the best size I can get for him.
  20. Extremely tempted to photoshop that pic ..
  21. Yeah I did that, but it didnt move for over an hour. I presume it was dead.
  22. I think tomorrow I'll lower the water levels in it a little. Dont want more mini climbers. Unlike hobbits they probably wont survive the climb.
  23. Happened today, but no one was around. No one could have seen it anyways, it climbed out the back. Anyways, the annoying part about it was I read about it somewhere in the forums, but didnt really believe it, so I didnt take any precautions. Now I know better.
