  1. Thank you, but I think your hairy indica is much more interesting to look at!
  2. Tank is approx 315 x 200 x 190mm Light is a 75w Philips Softone Warm Daylight (common old BC lamp in a clip on desk lamp) You want some killies? You will have to wait until after the Killie show, because I can't decide what fish to enter and I might give you the wrong ones!
  3. This is the third lot of flowers from the same plant. I have affinis in many of my tanks, this one has the largest leaves and is the only one to have produced flowers. There are heaps of snails on top of the leaves because I just fed the fish.
  4. You will have to sanitise it before you try and fob one off to Phoenix!

  6. Ours don't usually get an opportunity to cool! Four little bananas sounds fine. And Chocolate icing!
  7. We usually use more than two bananas as well - mind you it depends on how big they are I suppose, but it would be three minimum. Ira, they don't have to be rotten, just really really ripe
  8. I use the one out of the Edmonds Cookbook - never failed yet, except the bananas have to be really ripe - as in brown and nearly crawling out of the fruitbowl by themselves... Cook it in two tins, not one or it gets dry around the edges and stodgy in the middle.
  9. So are you encouraging us to go out and check that this is the same all around the country? Any excuse is good enough for me!
  10. Dang... Get well soon Bud.
  11. Ahhh, the perils of not using the PM system
  12. Lol, does she do the back leg kick'n'scratch as well? One we used to have would grovel up to visitors for a pat which was fine, but when they stopped patting she would launch into them with her teeth, and if she made it onto her back they would get the front claw death grip and the kick'n'scratch treatment as well.
  13. Isn't that just a common old garden kitchen knife? Make sure you have some buns for me, Caryl
  14. Hi dat1, welcome to the forums. You can use lead fishing weights to get your driftwood to sink, tie them on carefully, I seem to remember somewhere that something got tangled in nylon that was used, and koura are nosey things. When you say replace the sponge filter, are you just rinsing it out and putting it back, or chucking it out and putting a new sponge in there? The latter is not necessary, as the sponge does not deteriorate and can be used for years, and by throwing it away you are loosing beneficial bacteria from the filter. If the filter contains ceramic media, just rinse this out when it gets clogged with gunk, best done in a bucket of water that you have removed from the tank so as not to kill off the bacteria, I only do mine when the flow reduces and it is in a net bag, so is very easy to haul out and give it a swish around in the bucket and pop it back in after I have done the same with the sponge, which usually gets a few squeezes in the bucket to clear the gunk as well. HTH

    Which killie?

We only have one colour in nz, so there is not much choice! This is Barrie's monster - not a very good photo of it, either
  16. Dang, Caryl is closest - I would hide any you have if you are part of the tank crawl that she is going on soon.
  17. Caaarrryyyllll! Mark is posting to cause a reaction!

  19. Arrggghhh... stopit Mark, now have hankering for Hot Cross Buns with butter... grrr... And the only Creme Eggs I like are the Marble ones, but I don't think they make them anymore, but there are always the Lindt ones, especially the ones in the red wrapper
  20. Saw these in the shop today Haven't even recovered from Christmas yet :-?
  21. Well, you guys will put chairs and stools in front of your tanks for the cats to sit and oogle on - don't say they are there for humans, either
