  3. Yer, KP just sent me a big PM saying quit alot of stuff about vodka, and i kinda realised that i needed a skimmer for it to work, so when i upgrade to my cube tank, i will use my skimmer on it, and then start dosing. Thanks KP!! and everyone else!!
  4. Thanks for that guys. Wasp, They will well and truely be light starved, They only have a 15W light on them  I plan on going to rotorua on sunday i think, so will buy some rowaphos then if you think it would be good. I have that skimmer of shaneo i think i wil use on the cube, not good quality, but better than nothing. I wouldnt mind a deltec mce300 8) But like thats guna happen yet!!! KP, I did have a think about vodka, but im not too sure what to do with it etc. Im only 16 8) so would have to get the olds to buy it  Can you enlighten me slightly with some vodka threads on here or articles etc?? I know it is a well debated topic!! Rogan
  5. OHK, update time!! It has been 2 and a half ish months since i put the live rock into the first tank. The tank now has (thanks to wasp) 2 xenias, 1 colony of zoas, 2 candy cane corals, 1 Pink montipora digitata (not doing to well with only the 15W light  ) and a toadstool leather. I top up with tap water more than i should, but im losing 1.5L's daily... Im picking up a 38 x 38 x 38 cm cube tank on saturday, which this tank will be moved in too. I am using a 150W MH on the cube, Along with a seio m620 i scored cheap, and probably the original skimmer. Heres some pics of the corals that i took 5 mins ago, and then a FTS (make that a CRAP FTS!!!) Leather xenia's Zoanthids And FTS More pics once i upgrade to the cube and get more corals!!! Rogan
  6. Absolute CRAP photo, but owel, theres some close ups of my corals in my photobucket account if you wanna look... As bad as mine ira??
  7. The pumps shouldnt be the main heat source, Yes, they will heat the water a little bit, but they shouldnt heat it enough, or accurately enough to heat a 200L+ tank... a 300W heater in the sump somewhere will heat the tank well.
  8. They definately can be used in freshwater, and IMO are better than canisters or any other filters you may use, because they can hold ALOT more filter media, heaters etc can be hidden int hem, instead of in the main tank, they give more water volume and they are easier to clean... Sumps etc are used in saltwater ALOT more than freshwater, so thats why you find the most info about them on saltwater sites... There are people on this site with freshwater sumps, but for alot of people its just easier to use a canister... Marine people use sumps to hide equipment (alot more in marine than freshwater) and for extra water volume (very valuable in marine) and for extra rock and stuf (rock is the main filtration in a marine tank) http://www.melevsreef.com , even though its marine, has alot about sumps etc, so might pay to look there... HTH
