  1. I cant understand why people use anything other than photobucket. Photobucket is SO EASY to use, and you quite literaly use one mouse click to copy the link, and then press ctrl v and there is your pic.
  2. Barrie is the man isnt he! \ Make sure you get us some updated pics of your killie cupboard bro! P.S. this is my haul from Barrie
  3. After you showed me these ones mark i went and got some of that mesh (not just for these, its perfect for breeding tetras ) and i made my own (just incase) I made mine different though. I cut out as much of the bottom as i could, and cut out two of the sides aswell, so mine has the bottom and two sides covered in mesh. I didnt cut the lid at all, oh and i also siliconed the poly to the outside

You are one lucky fella to be asked to take those pics! Firenzenz does the guy who bought it have others? He said in the auction Q & A that he did. Is he a mate of yours? Hopefully he does have more and we may start to see some breeding and being distributed in this country!
  5. Definitely a good thing for Altums in NZ. Just hope there arent any fry showing Deformities as some of the last were. Good luck, and as Caryl said, show us some pics of the beauts!
  6. I believe that corys eat their fry but not the eggs
  7. Put heaters in some of the tanks and see what happens. The tanks should stay warm enough for Killies, and thats all that matters
  8. The parentswill eat the fry, so leave them be. You may get some that survive, but i mean, who cares? more = better
  9. Yea the seal on it is not 100% pressure tight. I had the whole unit running in a bowl of water (just sucking it in the bottom and blowing it out the top) and then i slowly lifted it out of the bowl.... as soon as the seal got out, it started sucking in air and eventually stopped working. Im going to make another seal for it with some thicker rubber, which will sponge down to make a perfect seal, and if that dont work, then i will just silicon it shut
  10. You could have a look on trademe for an old dressing table, or set of drawers, or something else cheap, and then get some wood and make it a little bit sturdier if needed and just use that. All you need is some wood, a saw and some nails/screws. A few supports across the top, a couple on each end, and maybe a diagonal on the back to stop it from swaying.... Sweet as
  11. If you have a mitre ten mega down there go see if they have any mesh in stock. I got some yesterday which would be perfect for a moss wall. Livingart actually got it first and he showed me, so i went and got some myself
  12. Keep testing the water every day and if the levels start to rise, do a water change immediately. There is not point adding chemicals that say they cycle a tank to your tank. they are an utter waste of money. If the gourami is hungry, it will eat. If however it has something wrong with it and it cant eat, then you need to do something about it. What that something is.... i don't know, and it will be hard to know whether its just being silly (alot of my fish spit food out all the time) or whether it indeed has problems. it it hard to diagnose if that is the only symptom
  13. Convicts would probably breed without water :-?
  14. Yea just get his opinion, may aswel!
  15. Oh so theres euro bracing around the whole tank on the bottom? if so, then yea id use it without worrying.....
  16. mmmm, looks like that whole corner is not being supported at all, and all that is holding the water in is the silicone in that corner. Could be pretty dodgy, but yet again, could last forever... Cutting the old silicone away from the corner, and siliconing a patch on the inside may work, or cutting away the silicone on the outside and putting a small piece in that corner... wont do alot but may give a bit more support for the side/front. Either way, Id talk to the seller, and see what they say. EDIT: the best option would be to cut the old bottom off and siliconing a new piece of glass on the bottom. at least it will give peace of mind, and will be alot cheaper than loosing a whole tank load of fish, plants, and burning out heaters or filters.
  17. I wouldnt feed them for a week and do regular water changes. should go away fast as
  18. Show us your Crack.. er, i mean, take a photo of it and giz a look
  19. Yea definitely don't mix the two, but Stainless steel will not leach anything into the water so would be the safest way to go, if you can get hold of SS mesh that is. If what smidey says is correct about the levels slowly rising over a period of months, then it will be fine for the 2 days to a week that it will be in the tank. Once the adults have spawned, just take it out and do regular water changes. no harm done
  20. Stainless steel mesh would be better. I wouldn't risk galvanized with breeders, but maybe you could get a 'sacrificial' fish in a tank and see what happens??
