oh true mine was hardly leacking, like a drip a minuite. maybe you have damaged the seal when putting it back on? have you tryed pulling it apart again and putting it back together?

i noticed this on my one after setting it up. i put little bits of cardbord under the clips so there is more pressure pushing down on the seal, seemed to fix it.

i go to a place in nelson that refils fire extingishers. or boc should fill them too. hope this helps

i went to a place called picales (sp?), an engernering place that should be nation wide. it costed me $25 and it works a treat! should be quite easy to find at a similer shop.

you dont need a bufffer, well thats what i was told and havnt use one at all with no probolems. i think the small bag (100ml) costed me $34 and it was in a bag. it claims on the box that its for 400l and for 6 months. but on my 200l tanks it only lasts me maybe 1 month. my water probley wasnt the greatest when i added it, and probley over feed too :roll: and usely has driftwood in there, but i still think at the price of the product it is still very good i remember adding it to my tanks and then going out for a couple of hours and coming back to crystal tanks! i see on the seachem site there is another product called HyperSorb has any one had any experiecne with this?

i think that it claims 6months on the box, but ime only 1 month it depends on stocking levels, how much food goes into the tanks and the water conditions when its first put in. in some of my tanks i have an extra HOB filters with a bit of filter wool and the purigen just to make it a bit easyer to check it.

just about got everything i need now got my new filter rena xp3, new co2 setup: 5kg bottle, BOC regulator, needle valve, co2 tubing and glass diffuser. im waiting for my light to arive should of been here today :evil: hopefuly tomoro, but thats a 250w MH with a 5500k bulb. if i have any problems wth the MH not reaching the sides of the tank then i will add some fluros to the setup. also got a 15l bag of doltons aquatic mix and a heap of dark coloured sand for on top. just need to get some heating now, going to price up some undertank heating i think.

well thats good to read Zoban thanks. im about to setup a new planted tank and was wondering if it would be ok for the plants. before this i have only been using it on cichild tanks so theres been no plants. usualy when i add it to a tank i think to myself "the tanks clear already anyway" then i put it in and WOW. yeah i have just got some cheap dechlorinater too with the same concentration as prime, so im regenerating mine as we speak carnt wait :bounce:

just wondering how many people use this stuff and how well they think it works? i have a few of them but hardly use them because i havent got around to regenerate them, but when i do and add them to my tanks they go CRYSTAL clear! also wondering what products people use to regenerate them? i was using prime but cost heaps to use that http://www.seachem.com/products/product ... rigen.html

i got meds of sharn for these worms and treated with it once and it worked amazing! didnt bother with more treatments cos im lazy and i did it about 1mount ago and havent seen any since. the meds made the fish a little grim tho but after water changes they back to normal thanks sharn and the meds that you got and used are the best!

i brought these guys close to a year ago now. they were tiny when i got them and both looked the same. one has coloured up more than the other so im thinking its a male and female pair? the darker one has egg spots too i think i brought them as Johannii, is it possible that they still could be or maybe a hybrid cross?

nah its not that bad and will only be in my bedroom till its ready for its own tank. apart from the noise its way better that my aquaones.

sharn, is your filter quite noisey? my aquaone canisters are dead silent but the xp3 is quite noisey which sucks cos its in my bedroom

hey everyone, just got my new filter today (early xmas pressy) :bounce: its a rena xp3, great filter but a little noisey anyway i need to mature it. i have it running on another tank that has been cycled, but how long till itll be ready?? also im going to be using it on my planted discus tank and was wondering what is the best way to have the water returning to the tank with out losing co2 or does it not make much difference? should i use the spray bar and have it half way down the tank facing the glass? how do other people have theres setup with there co2 injected tanks? thanks for any help and merry xmas!

well i got my filter today, but the cf1200 was out of stock till the end of next month so i got a rena xp3 filter, they are 1350lph and really good, cost me $190. the only problem with it is that its really noisey :evil: i found that my cf700 and 500 are completly silent! so if your after a nice quite filter then i would recomened the aqua one over this, but apart from that the rena has more media space, more flow and less wattage too. any way how long will it take for the filter to mature running on a cycled tank? and will it quiten down when it gets a bit junked up?

oh true, not sure i think i read it some were. it was saying that they were just more fussy with there water and stuff. well yeah the tank looks great! were did you get your heating wire from?

why do you want wild discus? i thought it was better not to get the wild type??

im sure they will still grow really fast. i would send you white worms but my cultures still a bit small at the moment. if you need some in the early new year i might beable to helpyou out with some.

i have an ar980. i have 3 trays, i have all of mine with noodles on the bottom and a layer of filter wool on top of them. my tank stays clean all the time. i would take out the carbon and add more noodles. your water is green probley becuase yu have your lights on for to long in the day, or because you have direct sunlight into your tank, the green is an algae bloom. if you have plants you should have the lights on around 12 hours a day and if no plants then you should only have the lights on for you veiw times. to get ride of it cut the lights down to a minimum and do around 25% water changes every few days (depending on ow bad it is) until it clears. i have had one of my tanks so green that i couldnt see the fish at all overfeeding also wouldnt help with the dirty water and the algae bloom either. hope this helps

when we had ours we had them in our comunity tank with a red tailed shark and a black shark we no problems

no i havnt seen them, the female died shortly afta the the babys were born i think. i think i recall he was saying they were wild caught perents?? when are you coming down to nelson next? you will have to come have a look at my tanks

hey rob how you going ive meet you a few times in the lfs in nelson my g/f worked there a while too, names ben. yeah hes got heaps of them in a tank at his house im sure he could jack you up with some if you give him a pm. yeah i got mine in a bearbottom with poted plants, java moss and a sponge filter. i dont think any of my fish have grown at the same rate these a few platty babies in there with them too

very nice, i got 2 of them of him too. mine have grown heaps since i got them tho and look a bit bigger than the ones in the pic. ive only got them in a 25l tank and give it a 50% water change very day or two. im feeding them crushed flake and white worms every few days. will have to post some pics of mine later.
