i thought that bleach would help kill and get ride of the brown stuff? why is this bad for the fish? my purgin is regenerated using a 50 50 mix of bleach and water that dosnt kill the fish. does this rock soak up the bleach and leack it into the tank? so can u use bleach on anything else for the tank i.e plastic plants, normal rocks?

nah i dont have a pot big enough for the coral , so ive put it in the bath with a bit of bleach and an airstone for some water movement. how long should i soak it and do i need to soak it again with prime or something before i put it in my tank?
-
i have given it a quick wash under running water, but it stinks of salt and has quite a bit of brown stuff on it. should i soak it in the bath with a bit of bleach and then soak it in the bath with some prime? or should i leave it in the sun? thanks for the help!

hey, ive just got 20kgs of coral rock(dead live rock). im planning to use it in my african tank. 8) my only concern is, will 20kgs make the pH to high in a 230l tank? ive got crushed coral for a substrate too. also wot do i need to do to prep it for the tank i.e soak, scrub?? and how much do i need to worry about getting the dead stuff on it off (its like a brown foamy stuff). any help would be good thanks!!

ok i treated the convict with 'tonic' and tonic salt for a week with no improvment. then we put him in his own 40l tank and gave him a rest for a few days. then we started treatment with melafix and have been using this for the last 4 days at the recommended dose (also tonic salt). the lump has changed to a whitey colour and there is also a few more that have come up on the end of his body by the tail, but apart from that i thought that the other one was looking a bit better(hardly though) . we have just had him out of the tank and pierced them with a needle again, and there was blood coming out of all of them with a slight yellow colour but the last time we done this there was nothing. we also put a drop of melafix on them while he was out. if anyone has got any more ideas on helping him then PLEASE let me know.

yeah it takes about 2 days for them to start going white and then they start dissapering. is this because the severums no that they wont hatch so they eat them?
-
ok so would the severums live in a tank with a jag(they wouldnt fit in his mouth). so is the 40l tank going to be ok to spawn in? what would be the best temp for the tank? do they need anything to lay the eggs on like a clay pot or anything? What colour would the babys be if one of the parents is gold and one green? is there anything that i can put in the tank to stop the eggs going white(and what makes them go white  ) thanks
-
i have a green and a gold severum in a cichild community tank and they have layed eggs a few times but the eggs have been eaten i was wondering if they would be ok to breed in a 40l tank with a heater and just a bio filter(the grey foam ones)? also what else can i do to help them start spawing? thanks for any help

it just looks like a light brownly lump at the start of the fin by the body. there was nuting that came out or there was no noise at all. he is in his own container(2l) floating in the tank at the momnent with a air stone, some salt and i just put some tonic in there. i was planning on taking him out and replacing him with another female, as when they have babys(which is all the time) they are really aggresive to the rest of the fish even my large jack dempsy is scared of them but i was goin to give him to my mate so i wana try fix him

i have tryed breeding my show fighters a few times now and currently trying at the moment. the problem is that the male is only making really small bubble nests and when the eggs are in there he dosnt realy try and pick up the eggs and babys from falling. the closest ive been to sucsess is having the eggs hatch and then within an hour or so gone. what can i do to help this. is this just the male being inexperinced? thanks for any help.

a while back i had this problem really bad, so bad that i could only see the fish when they were right up at the glass. completly cover the tank so that no light can get in. do water changes every 2-3 days (about 25% or so) only feed them every secound day (helps get the phoshate level down) i also got this stuff to help to which is a light greeny blue colour and looks like is a chocolate block from the pet shop, which i just put in the recomeded amount. also give your gravel a good syphon to because the fish waste in there will feed the algae do this for about a week and a half or until its not green anymore the green water wont be bad for your fish. how long has the tank been setup for? you should also get your tap water tested for its phoshate levels. once i got the problem gone my tanks have been crystel clear since. i know how much it sucks looking at a green tank but it will go away.

today it looks like the fin is dying tomorow ill go to the petshop and have a look for something to treat him with, but if anyones got any ideas then ill be more than happy to try

today we chaught the convict and tryed poping the "thing" on his fin but there wasnt anything that we could see coming out. over the last few days hes gotten worse and can hardly even swim now. at the moment hes in by him self with some salt and an iodene type medication. can anyone else help us please!
-
the green water would be caused by to much light or phoshates or both. block out the light from the tank completly and do water changes every 2-3 days until its gone. how long do u leave your lights on for try and keep them on for about 10-12 hours a day and also how much do you feed your fish over feeding can cause the phoshate level to rise.

so when you use 1 part teatree and 99 parts water. is the doesing the same as what the melafix bottle is??
-
is it true that you can make you own melafix with just water and tea tree oil??? if so could someone give me the messurements thanks
-
ok so do i have to pop it or peirce it with a needle or something then treat him with medicine or can i just treat him. im not worried about the babys they have new ones every few weeks its a pain in the butt! hes getting worse every day and is almost always sitting on the ground:(

hey, one of my convicts has got this "thing" growing(i think) at the start of the fin on his side? It looks like a absess or something, its kind of a browny colour and its been there for a while now with no problems but now hes starting to sit on the floor of the tank trying to rest his fin(i think) inbetween casing other fish around (protecting his new born). could someone please give me some advise on what to do or treat him with. thanks!
