I was told the metro works.. But that sounds like a plan though I have no idea where to get that from sorry man..
-
The metro? I got mine from the vets, went in and ask for the full name (I cant spell it) they gave me Trichozole, it is also known as flagyl..
-
lol don't let the eheim label bashers hear you say that carol I think alot of marine guys use sumps as it allows them to hide all the skimmers and other gizmo's they stick on their tanks and they can get alot of flow..
-
Sorry just because I know Steve doesn't mean you do.. If you did ever want to know how long someones been around I know its a fairly useless indication but have a look how long they've been a member and how many posts they have gives you some idea.. And I still disagree with you I don't think there are many times the red things would be normal, yes sometimes your fish do red poo's when you've been feeding red food, but the poo is different, the red things were referring to are like little tiny threads and are definitely not normal. I guess its hard to understand if you haven't seen them, they also go in and out of the fish because they're alive and eating it from the inside out..

From what ive heard those 2400LPH aqua ones are good.. They seem good value for money.. Some people get hung up on brand name stuff, I guess its just like everything else in life maybe you do get what you pay for ive got a few aqua ones that are a few years old now and still going strong so is my 2213... If I was buying a filter for your tank I would look at an cf1200 or jebo 819, IMO theres no point in spending big $$ on an eheim when you can get similar performance with a smaller price and you still have to do maintenance regardless of how much you spend, im not overly impressed with the 404 either for the money.. If you did want to spend big $ get an FX5 they're wicked filters
-
For that price I would expect to get another gb of ram.. As someone suggested about if your getting vista get 2gb min
-
I would dose the water in the affected tank and also give medicated food, and just use medicated food in all the other tanks you would hate to think the cost of dosing the water in all your tanks..
-
It could be pairing, or it could be 2 males fighting for dominance, if they are pairing then they could be nearing maturity so keep an eye on them and depending on tank size/tank mates be prepared to isolate fish if they start taking a beating

Obviously Steves been around fish long enough to know that the fish isn't just doing a red poo... It isn't normal for red things to be hanging out fishes anus's so it is not over reactive to treat the worms (or kill off the heavily infected fish) before they infect and kill all of your fish especially if you run a large fishroom with alot of livestock. I do agree sometimes people are a bit over reactive especially with fish but IMO in my fishroom I always jump on any diseases and don't just try and wait it out.

Hope this helps.. http://albertaaquatica.com/index.php?sh ... id=2136617 http://www.awforum.net/angelfish/topic. ... callamanus Its called callamanus I think that metro and prazi can kill it so would try that.. I found the info by searching.. http://www.google.co.nz/search?hl=en&q= ... arch&meta=

What type of fish is it? Is it breathing normally? Any other fish showing signs of any discomfort? And have you done a water change or anything recently?
-
Wow those are nice fish I cant wait!

Breed easy to breed fish that go in community tanks.. Guppies bristlenoses swordtails etc, danios or other egg scatters are good also, you should get some store credit or even sell for a little to locals or get some others interested you need to make sure you breed stuff you can actually sell/give away so you don't get all your tanks overrun with them.. yes the other fish do sell for more but most of them are specialized take alot of work large tanks and where you are I don't imagine much market, ive spent 2 and half years in blenheim fishless and often drove around wondering if people kept fish down there lol. Good luck im sure all of us are trying to sell enough fish to pay the power bill and in my case keep the wife happy lol
-
I should say he was breeding what you might call malieri sunshine golds.. But sunshine peacocks could be any number of things, did you find that name on the internet?
-
Pm marklb he's down there and breeding them If you lookup his profile and look through his posts he has posted pics of them before

lol my wife has ideas of going camping with our baby (shes almost 3 months old) and I cant see it happening.. I think it would end up being very stressful for everyone involved.. Babies are hard enough to look after in your own home with all the little things that make it easier, obviously also depends on where you go etc if your close to civilization then give it a go.. It may sound cheesy but why not setup the tent in your back yard and give it a go.. May give you some idea and also let your 6yr old teach his dad how to put the tent up lol
-
Just did some research and they are usually infertile or very bad parents.. But there have been reports of them breeding successfully.. Good luck
-
Congrats but aren't these fish infertile?

I thought that aluminium forms that oxide layer very well and that in turn protects it from corrosion which is why they make boats and stuff out of it? I have often wondered the same thing myself will be interested to see the replies.. I know that stainless steel is sweet, and people use fly screen mesh from mitre10 commonly maybe that would be the way to go?

I have found there to be less aggression when africans are overcrowded if they're overcrowded theres alot of targets so things tend to stay nicer
-
You have 2 male giraffes thats the problem they are known for being agro, sometimes with cichlids its just a ticking timebomb, they get along sweet as until something (who knows what) goes wrong.. How big is your tank? And what else is in it? Things you can do to curb aggression are do a water change and completly rearrange the tank let everyone fight it out.. You can also take out the biggest bully rearrange the tank leave him out for a few days (or in a breeding net or something) then reintroduce him hopefully he's fallen down the ranks a little and the new boss is nicer.. Really need to know what you've got in your tank what size they are and your tank size to try and guess why its happening...
-
Agreed if its fluffy its fungal.. Best thing ive found for one affected fish is to isolate it and drop the meth blue directly on the fluffy stuff while the fish is out of the water, do this daily I haven't had much luck turning the tank and everything in it blue with meth blue IMO applying it directly saves your tank and seems to work better.
-
lol yeah people always get offended if you ask for freebies.. However if you say your looking for a few plants cuttings or whatever at a reasonable price because your poor people may be more willing to help Also if they're not local you will have to pay postage..
-
Yeah it has a few trade names most vets know it by flagyl or something starting with tric@##$$ I cant remember ive got a bottle with the 3 names written on it somewhere ill find it but im sure someone will beat me to it by the time I find it.. Metronidazole is what its called though, hopefully you have a good vet mine will give it to me as its nothing dangerous and they know nothing about treating fish, google it and find an official looking page on treating fish with it print it out to show your vet for a bit of assurance for them if they seem a bit cagey.

I just use metro, when I want to dose the entire tank I drop the water level to half or even quarter, one tab per 40 litres daily with a water change, with my food I just crush up a few tabs dissolve them in water and blend it up with my frozen food.. Just a word of caution though it is probably not a good idea to do half doses or just add meds randomly to your tank, the only reason I do it is because im always getting fish and I use the same nets in most my tanks etc etc, if you only have one tank and your fish are filled out growing colourful etc there is probably no point in doing it
