  1. hey wow, thanks for that link im going to print that an leave it in the cabinet under my tank
  2. Ifind that my plant in my tanks are not a nice green colour, they all tend to have a very light green/yellowish colour to them... My cabomba has gone to a yellowish colour, and there are a few others also. Is there an obvious reason for this? My large tank has a 3' tri-phosphor and a 3' power glow, and is 55cm tall. may smal; 2' tank has one aquaglo tube. There are some JBL fertiliser ball at the roots of most of the plants. Thanks
  3. from a strictly engineering point of veiw they are pretty inefficent. what are you trying to cool hacking up an old bar fridge mould be better IMO but maybe its a bit large for an 80L tank.

    dropsy?

i think my albino female guppy has dropsy. her scales are sticking out and shes as round as a rugbyball. what cures this?
  6. maybe the angels are moving stones 1 by 1???
  7. well, the temperature never really gets hot inside. outside is usually about 25, so theres no problems. my brother, Herc, keeps his coldwater tank cool by plopping a few ice cubes in it. if its possible to get a draft going in the house it might be worth removing the covers of the tanks, the evaporation actually cools the water quitewell
  8. i have a small amount turn up in my planted tank, i covered it and left the lights off for 2 days, then it seemed to die and dissapear
  9. get the stuff that you spray on your window sills. it honestly kills flies and bugs for a year.
  10. i could, but that reqires 7times more effort than im exerting on it at the moment
  11. oh yea, thanks for that my guppys dont seem to be growing that slowly then, im only feeding them crushed Tropical Crumbles so its powdery. i just take about 15L out of the tank a week, thats on a 2foot tank. so maybe 50%? we are on tank supply
  12. hey evil sounds like a good project to do. heres two pics of inside two of our tank cabinets i dont think having the plugs under the tank is an issue at all, if there is plenty of cable, then if water does run down the wire it will drip off at the bottom
  13. we just had another 2 hours here at home today too after my last post. there was nothing to do so i went to sleep
  14. i only have one adult male, and a few young males that are starting to show colour. in all i have 1 Albino Female 3 normal females 1 half black male and heaps of young, not from the black male
  15. our power was out from 1pm to 3am, a tree behond our house fell on the lines, and at 2am the powerguys came, WITHOUT a bloody chainsaw!! so they used ours. my guppy tank got down to 24.8, and wouldnt get lower which was good, and the larger tanks were a tad warmer
  16. im just curious to know how fast your young guppys to the average size you see in the LFS?? and what you feed the young to make them grow Thanks
  17. holy moly!!!! they look rad
  18. ive had an albino female for a few months now, im begining to think shes intertile or just deosnt like boys :-? she hasnt had any young, nor is she getting fatter.
  19. Hollywood on the north shore has long finned blue rams i saw the other day.
  20. a mobile phone charger is sufficient to power several LED's. i was messing round with these two about a month ago for the same purpose
  21. welcome Copper while we're on the subject, if anyone even needs abit of help with calc, im pretty clued up, just finished Engineering Math. Modelling (its the, or one of the hardest calc classes at uni).
  22. the 24" tubes are 59cm (590mm) thats for the 18watt and 36" are 89.5cm for the 30watt if the fittings are the same and the length, then u should be able to use normal tubes. heres i picture of the kelvin scale found on the back ofthe hagen brand tubes.
  23. i hav an albino female guppy, and she looks much nice than regular females, just waiting for her to drop a load. i wonder what the albino swords look like.
  24. depending on the size of the fry, you could also use airline tubing. the watter flows slower throught the airline as oposed to the big siphon tube. done it many times and works great. good luck
  25. what you need inline with a yeast CO2 thing is a small bottle with two hoses in the lid. one hose goes to the tank and the other to the reactor. this is incase of the reactor tipping over, so the liquid stays in the bottom of the bottle and only gas makes it into the tank. im sure it has a special name
