  1. I had a friend (who unfortunately has since died) but was a private detective --ex sergeant in the police force, who used to spend a lot of his time dealing with this exact problem. It needs to be handled properly or your firm could end up in the industrial court for wrongful dismissal. You could consult the police and the employers federation or dept of labour for the right advice.
  2. Keep your eyes open. I need to blink as mine have been open for about 5 years now.
  3. L. aquatica is and dwarf hairgrass used to be around but I haven't seen it in a long time.
  4. I always have used it. Guess it depends how many fish you have in a bag. It is a bit like aeration and filtration---you don't need it but it allows you to overstock.
  5. Well done. He should be realy looking like a male now.
  6. That is what many people use on the basking area--will be OK
  7. World famous in New Zealand. How many more do you have now?
  8. They are actually better off in a bare tank as in nature they live in ponds lined with soft mud. Sand and gravel will damage their carapace. Having said that I have gravel in mine and get the pointy stick whenever Donna comes around. Must get off my lazy and sort it out some time.
  9. They are a mixture of rather nice plants but generally all do best in different conditions.
  10. Not enough light and the plant is growing upwards to get more.
  11. What is the plant in the foreground?
  12. Good to see you back. Hang in there
  13. Jennifer, you probably drive past a few fig trees on your way into town. Ask me where when you are around.
  14. Too much food and they are feeding on the residue. Cut right back on the feeding and do a good gravel vac.
  15. If the inside sealing silicone looks stuffed it is likely the structural stuff is as well. A lot easier to fix and less messy when empty and dry.
  16. Overfeeding and the wrong food or both is usually the source of phosphate. Cut right back. Your fish don't need as much as you think.
  17. You might be lucky as they have sold the parents.
  18. I would guess blackworms (lumbriculus) or tubifex. If they get a fright and swim they are lumbriculus if the get a fright and go down in the media then tubifex.
  19. Only a guess but I would have thought that if it was dominant there would be a lot more around (even with them being easier for predators to see).
  20. Piscene TB is a wasting disease but the wasting is usually in the belly and back rather than the head. Also infectious.
  21. The first angel is a veil tailed black lace with a single black gene and silver gene or genes as well as a deformed dorsal fin which will will usually come through if bred. Probably male. The second is a normal finned with a single marble gene and one or two gold genes. Probably male also.
  22. Agree with all the above. I used to keep a good sized group in a large aviary and they all got on fine and bred like mad.
  23. I never clean my filters. I have an Eheim on a turtle tank and only clean it enough and whenever to restore the flow. They work best when half gunged up so it is not a good idea to remove all that gunge that contains the bacteria you are trying to cultivate. Often the flow is only restricted by a buildup of gunge in the pipework so clean that and see if the flow is restored.
