  1. It's ok, it's a project tank. Initial cost of the equipment is all I need...will build up fish/corals piece by piece if to go that way. What I really needed to know if type of lights to get... And also filtration I'd need. I have no idea on how to make sumps for example.
  2. Could be a possibility, just always wanted a reef tank I guess
  3. Ah I see, could be a possibility...they're brackish right?
  4. Yeah, I've tried, but so far there's been work in the way, and now I don't even have transport
  5. Never much been into planted tanks
  6. I've been wanting to join for some time now, but keep missing the events here in Auckland for various reasons Are we able to join a club even if we can't get to the events?
  7. Try Origins in Browns Bay, quite good prices there
  8. I really am leaning in that direction eh. Just not sure how it'd work with light and stuff, and what sorta filter/sump I'd need (if any). Not to mention tho I have the basics (skimmer, heaters etc etc) it'd be pricey buying the bits to fill out so it might look empty for quite some time whilst I build it up piece by piece. I still have to work out how I'm going to transport it to my place, even if it is only down the road!
  9. ...And unsure what to put it in. It's a monster of a thing. It's approx 1.5 metres long, sixty cms wide, and about 1 metre or so tall!!! Was debating going reef with it (I have a two foot marine cube atm) but not too sure if it's feasible... I told him I'd need scuba gear to clean it out. Anyone got any ideas?
  10. Thanks for the advice, anyone around the west auckland area? Haha. And I can see why it would be difficult for us freshies to get used to the idea of not having a canister I was just thinking of having a few of the easier corals in there anyway, at least for now. If they do ok, I might think about upgrading tank and all in the future.
  11. Haha. He sounds like a character, that really made me giggle! Are Oscars quite personable? Don't know much about them aside from they get big!
  12. I love my puffers, I'm selling all my tanks except my puffer tank. One of my friends were amazed at watching them cause everywhere I went they followed me around the room as much as they could. Like little puppy dogs
  13. Hehe I know what ya mean. I should be doing the same!
  14. Green spotted puffer as an adult lives in full marine Born in fresh, goes to brackish, then full. I got two GSPs in full marine conditions You measure salinity with a hydrometer.

I want a lionfish Hehe. How'd you originally get it? How long did you have it for? Any more pics? I've always been fascinated by Lions
  16. Hehe. At that age I was working full time as a web developer, with the view of going into full time studying and working part time to support myself. I'm 21 years old now, and still renting, with my dogs and cats and fish. My mum booted me out of home when I was 14. I must admit, last year, when studying canine behaviour and training, it annoyed me people bitching about their parents, because they won't buy them things they wanted or whatever. It's like, girl, why don't you step into my shoes for even a month and see how you can live... Mind, most people thought I was a lot older back then anyways, because of it.
  17. I resent the typical mentality of a nineteen year old. I hadn't been living at home since I was sixteen, and was renting my own house by nineteen. I was nowhere near like that!
  18. What about a 2 ft cube (60cm x 60cm x 60cm)? Would that do ok for a reef tank? Already got a skimmer, cannister, heater etc etc in it. Just need to buy a light. What sort of light would I need to buy? Something to fit under the hood. Sorry to hijack this thread!
  19. Hehe. Cool! Mine seemed average to me after renting a three bedroom place, but shows what I know
  20. I'm the same, I have mine on 24/7 so sometime it might be a while till I reply. I'll add you now.
  21. Yes definitely! Do you have MSN? I was trying to breed for pure white a while back...still kind of regretful for selling up. I've decided too many times I wouldn't be breeding them but always go back!
  22. I'm into the crowntails but always happy to talk Fighters and genetics I'm out west auckland.
