exactly what i was thinking, a bit much for what looks like a overglorified spotted guppy. But dont see them often so could well be worth it if people are willing.

These things seem to be basically impossible to get a hold of at reasonable prices.

Good grief they are only leopardfish. Certainly not worth anything like that

But if they can find someone willing to pay that then good luck to them. Caveat emptor

if you read the auction it says it listed two by mistake and he has another auction for $45

The value of the fish is often up to the buyer. These are auctions, no ones being forced to bid, i have been watching this guy for a while and i don't think he's sold any. When i was 13 i sold them to the pet store for $1.50 ea

If you go to orakei korako on the waikato, go approx 400m north on the river in a small kayak/canoe you can basically go help yourself to some livebearers like these with a decent net.. pretty sure these are the same livebearer as the ones living in the wild...

I believe that they are guppies there (going from NIWA's Freshwater Biodiversity DB it looks like they are guppies)

a few streams around that area (Reporoa) have guppies in

his new auction is $40 buy now for six of them. $6.66 per fish isn't that bad for what will probably be a breeding group, you'll end up with hundreds of the darn things anyway..

lol I am planning on selling mine in a retail shop at $5 each (just need a lil bit more size) and I thought I was asking too much

(I also have a funny feeling that they may be a few of my earlier babies)
