I am heavily considering this.

http://www.petware.co.nz/Product/info/JW86930

its 60 by 55 cm

so height is perfect. length i would need 4 to cover the length of tank. an extra maybe to cover overflows.

it would look nice and siliconed on the tank before we put water in!

feedback would be great!

like this

i have this im my 2m chchlid tank. been in there for about 5 montth. i pointed my lights at it to grow somr alge. this worked made it look more natural, BUT......i pulled tank down the other day for a good clean and something has been eating the backing. presume it a pleco.

Insulation install is schedules for saturday next week.

man... plywood is expensive:D

decided to use 7mm treated, not 4mm untreated, seeing that moisture will bombard it from inside and out...

want it forever-proofed:D

when that is done, the following week, tank build time!!!!!

12 to 15 day to cure the silicone though:(

correction, 20mm total glass thickness on base, 20 days to cure :dno:

Bracing will be 40 cm on the ends, 30cm on middle (width of brace)

Glass ordered, this is getting real!

target day of construction is tuesday next week!

We definitely can't wait to see pictures of this tank once the silicone has cured!

Stand is a beast!! How many power points have you got there? With all the heaters/lights/pumps drawing a heap of power you may want to talk to an electrician about how much load they can handle. Would be pretty quick and easy to get another point or two installed before you line it.

Man!

did insulating this saturday and sunday. still about a third to go, but the closer to the end, the more proficient you become, still, another sunday this coming and its done! clean up then tank build - albeit 1 week delay.

in some parts of the ceiling, i reused some poly sheets to line it with batts filling in corners and where ever else i cant get the poly on.

batts used for walls and ceiling is R3.5 ceiling grade (very thick) batts.

most sheets of poly are between 40mm to 50mm, some parts are 25mm.

garage door panels will be lined with 50mm poly, then a very very thin alimunium / tin cover to be pop riveted in.

the garage is getting warmer as we were covering up the ceilign and walls today.

amazing what insulation does!
