critter_crazy
Pretty sure your cories would be munched, maybe get a school of Synadontis
reptilez
Do you like the look of arowanas ?
Ira
I'm not sure if you're serious or not. But you're pretty much full up just with that giant gourami.
Adrienne
Albino catfish, do you mean cory? If so they and the sterbai will easily and quickly become dinner. Thats a lot of aggression in one tank and the tank is not that large!
Godly3vil
940ltrs is not that large?! Huh?
ilwis
that is a surprisingly good mix of fish i like it, tho i do share some of the caution on the corys the other fish may not eat them but that doesn't mean they wont get killed, they are all very big fish i don't know if the tank is big enough or not, its gonna be a try and see deal i think, maybe a large common pleco wont go amiss makes cleaning a big tank like that a bit easier, whats the dimensions of the tank btw? camtang
large plecs make a large mess
dattofish
iv had my cories in their from nearly day one with all them fish an they dont get botherd at all! even before i got the larger fish. an their i have never seen them get chased around. yea i like arowanas but dont think could handel one of them lol the gourami is enough. an what 940l with all them fish you saying itd be full up? the tanks going to be 2.1m x 750 wide x 650 high. Sophia
would the little fish come out of hiding with all those big fish around? I suspect they would spend a lot of time hiding under whatever cover was available.
dattofish
looks like i mite have to take a video to prove it.. theirs alot of hiding places for all the fish an the cories just cruise round do their own thing no problem. like i say they have been in their from day one a when got bigger fish did think about them but they have turned out fine no hassel at all iv never seen them being harased
dattofish
an just so were on the same page.. im talking bout the new tank 2.1m x 750 wide 650high.. saying that the list of fish will max that tank out?
Adrienne
Minimum recommended tank size for a giant gourami is 200 gallons, so nearly 760 litres (please note minimum) so that doesnt leave a lot for the rest of your list. When you say longfin eel what are you referring to?
dattofish
its a red tail gourami if that makes any diffrence.. iv had it for a few months now an when got it got told 900 odd litres would be a good size tank from him.. just doing some more research on him now as always thought he was fine till as is for now. Adrienne
Not sure if there is a difference between a red tail and a red tail giant gourami. I think they may be the same thing but am not 100% certain.
dattofish
what abou this then? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =567035184 my one is not near as big as that.. that one says its about 50cm an is in a 550l an they woudnt recomend going under 450l for him
Godly3vil
Don't worry about it datto, it will be fine in your tank. Also since when has minimum size required meant you can't have any other fish aswell? It doesn't mean that minimum size is for every single fish you keep you have to keep adding that many litres. What your saying Adrienne is if I kept say an arowana that needs a minimum tank of 200g then I want to add another I have to go up another 200g. camtang
Also think about Foot print over literage.( is that a word). 500L in a high and narrow tank may not be so ideal to a wide, long 500L
Adrienne
No, thats not what I am saying at all Godly3vil but as with any forum you can take it whatever way you care to. All I have done is answer the questions and given my opinion on what dattofish has asked.
Godly3vil
I'm just trying to clarify what it is you are saying Adrienne, poor datto is just trying to get some advice and from the way you phrased your comment it seems like that's what you were implying. dattofish
thanks because yea now i am concerd wondering wether if im better of getting rid of my gourami or now bit confused
critter_crazy
It'd be nice to keep the gourami, it just means you have a bit less space for other fishies. Some people prefer heaps of smaller fish and some prefer one super larger fish and a few small fish - so depends what you fancy For my tank I was originally going to have lots of smaller fish (small monster fish that is!) but now I've decided to thin out my stock and and have some smaller ones and one large one (an aro!!). Nothings permanent in fish keeping, if he gets too big and you want to change your tank up I'm sure you'll be able to find him a new home
dattofish
yea yea thats true, i guess didnt realise how much of a problem he is for space to me he looks fine in their with the rest of the fish so thats why i asked. cool stuff a aro i like them but think itd be a bit to much for me
critter_crazy
Yeah I always thought that too but really want one so starting out with a pearl which I'm getting a deal on through work. No way I'd trust myself with anything fancier! :sml2:
